Sturdy, eight feet high cattails sway, mostly in unison, at the bank of the pond, partially shielding the migrating birds from unnatural interferences. A white-faced ibis and an American avocet wade in the shallow water by the shore, their slim and elongated beaks occasionally poking into the blue water. Near a small island, an angelic crane peacefully stands amidst a flock of ducks.
