A throne stolen

Seraphina stared at the man before her, every muscle in her body coiled tight. Alpha Kieran of the Shadowfang Pack. He was tall, broad-shouldered, with an arrogant smirk that made her blood boil. His presence alone was a mockery of everything she had fought for. And yet, her own pack had invited him here. To take her place. The realization settled like a stone in her stomach. “You have no claim here,” Seraphina said, her voice low and sharp. “This is my pack. My birthright.” Kieran tilted his head, amusement flickering in his dark eyes. “That may be true, but a pack without a strong Alpha is a weak pack. And from what I hear, yours is crumbling.” A few murmurs of agreement rippled through the room. Seraphina’s fingers twitched at her sides. She wanted to strike him down where he stood. She wanted to tear through the elders who had betrayed her. But she couldn’t afford to lose control. Not yet. Her father leaned forward, his expression unreadable. “The council has decided that the pack needs stability. Alpha Kieran has offered a solution.” Seraphina’s nails dug into her palms. “And what solution is that?” One of the elders spoke, his voice carefully neutral. “You will take him as your mate.” Silence. Seraphina barely breathed, barely moved. The words echoed in her mind, sharp and cruel. They weren’t just trying to strip her of power. They were trying to bind her. Chain her to this man. Kieran watched her reaction, and when she didn’t immediately protest, his smirk widened. “It’s a generous offer, really. You get to keep your title, and your pack gets the Alpha they need. A win for everyone.” Seraphina’s lips curled into a cold smile. “Except for me.” Kieran chuckled. “Come now, Luna. We both know this is the only way you remain in power.” Her heart pounded, but she forced her face to remain impassive. “And what if I refuse?” The council members exchanged glances. Her father exhaled slowly, his voice heavy. “Then the council will vote to remove you as Luna. And Alpha Kieran will take your place—whether you stand beside him or not.” A death sentence. That’s what this was. If she accepted, she would be nothing more than a puppet Queen, bound to a man who would use her name to justify his rule. If she refused, she would be cast aside. Her hands clenched at her sides. She had known this moment was coming. Had felt the power slipping through her fingers. But she had never expected them to force her hand like this. Kieran took a slow step toward her. “Be smart, Seraphina. A queen without a kingdom is just a girl with a broken dream.” She met his gaze, and for the first time in her life, Seraphina felt trapped. No plan. No allies. No way out. For now. So she did the only thing she could. She smiled. Cold. Calculated. She tilted her head, letting her icy blue eyes lock onto Kieran’s, and let her lips curl into something almost… amused. “Then I suppose I’ll have to think about it,” she said smoothly, turning toward the door before anyone could respond. She didn’t look back as she walked out of the hall. Didn’t let them see the storm raging beneath her skin. Because she would not bow. She would not be forced into submission. And if they thought they had won? They had no idea who they were dealing with. Seraphina wasn’t going to accept this fate. She was going to burn them all for even trying.
