Break of dawn

329 Words
Light spills into the room as the sun breaks over the horizon. Looking out the window one can see the beautiful autumn colours that make it one of Chase Xavier's favorite seasons. The bright oranges, reds and yellows make him feel at home in the gigantic city of Los Angeles. A loud beep is heard breaking the young man out of his peaceful sleep, grunting he smashes his hand down on the snooze button of his old alarm clock. `crunch` pain laces through Xavier's hand as it goes right through the old machine. He grunts and gets up, watching as blood drips down his hand and huffs in annoyance. "That's the fifth time this week, at this rate I might as well just use my phone." Standing Chase stretches, his blonde hair brushing against the ceiling of his bedroom. Standing 6 feet tall he was known as a giant among his coworkers, the largest man in the task force. Chase sighs and brushes the broken pieces of his alarm clock into the trashcan by his bed along with a few hundred other pieces and Monster Java cans. He walks over to the closet and opens it, looking at the stack of clocks that took up one half of the space. Most were the same model, all old, others were just collected from evidence that no one wanted. Picking up one he brings it over to the desk and places it down before fiddling with the time and the alarm. He growls in annoyance and decides to mess around with it later when he's more awake, after a day of, well whatever his employer had in mind for him and his partner. The bathroom door was always wide open, and he could hear the sound of something moving around. Sneaking in he looked in and saw his rainbow snake moving towards the tub, obviously it wanted a bath. "Sorry Ezra, can't give you a bath right, don't have enough time."
