Chapter 2- Could It Really Be Her

John Luke's POV

"Sadie if you don't hurry up and get back down we are going to leave you" I heard a shrill voice call from below causing her to turn and take off running towards the waterfall's edge and jumped. Oclan instinctively ran to the falls edge to make sure the was okay ready to jump over if needed only to watch her pop up laughing.

It took everything in me to keep Oclan from launching us over the falls to get to his mate.

I watched as this beauty slowly swam to the side, wringing out her long raven hair as she pulled it back into a bun on top of her head. The water glistened on her tanned skin as she pulled her shirt back on laughing at her friends jokes about having a death wish.

I watched through Oclan's eyes as the looked back up to the top of the falls. She seemed to be looking for something presumably the large wolf that she just tried to pet like a golden retriever. The sorrow that danced in her piercing blue eyes when she didn't see us pained us causing Oclan to whine like a puppy who just got kicked.

"Mate is sad JL" Oclan's gruff voice whined in my head

"I know buddy but it will be okay. Do you want to get closer to her?" I asked him back

At my question he began to wag his tail and do a happy dance in my mind

"Patrick I need you and Andrew to head to the trail head and wait for me with my jeep and a car for the two of you" I spoke to my head warrior through mind link

"Got it Alpha do you need anything else?"

"Clothes"

"Okay we will be there in 15"

I shifted back slipping on the short I had been carrying and climbed down the cliff and followed them from a distance as the group of girls walked the trails laughing and talking the whole way. Once they finished the trail I noticed my men with the jeeps and headed their way.

"Everything okay JL?" Patrick asked

"Better than okay, I just need the two of you to follow that group of girls and keep them safe no matter what. Keep me up to date of where they go and what they do"

"Got it Alpha" Patrick asked raising an eyebrow" but aren't they just humans"

"I will explain later just do it please if anything happens report directly to me" with that I headed back to the pack with a smile from ear to ear.

Opening the mind link for my father "hey dad are your and mom free?"

" Yeah son is everything okay?"

"Yeah everything is good I just need to talk in person."

"Okay see you soon then son."

I jumped in my jeep and sped back to the pack house to meet up with my parents. I pulled up to the pack house and ran inside to tell them the good news.

"Kitchen son!" I heard my dad yell as the door closed behind me. I walked through the living room into the kitchen where I saw my parents seated at the island and my mother pouring hot tea into cups.

"So John Luke what was so important that we needed to rush over?" My mother cheerfully asked while handing me a cup.

"I found my mate" I blurted out trying to catch myself knowing that is probably wasn't going to go well.

"That's wonderful son! Do we know her, is she from our pack?" My dad asked clasping his hand down on my shoulder. My mom's face lit up excited for me especially after all the years of being convinced I didn't have a mate.

"Technically" I almost whispered. I knew they were going to be mad when I try to explain. We all presumed Sadie had died when we got word that only a few months after her aunt had taken her back to her mother's pack they had been whipped out by rogues.

"Oh John Luke honey I can wait to meet her! When do you plan on bringing her to meet us? What is her name?" My mom exclaimed as she ran around the island hugging me with happy tears in her eyes.

"Well about that." I paused trying to figure out how to tell them "it's complicated. It's Sadie but before you get mad..."I was immediately cut off

At the mention of her name my mom began to cry turning from me. My father moved to comfort her "Son how dare you!" He yelled as he tried to calm my mother "finding your mate isn't something to joke about and neither is Sadie, we all miss her son not just you!"

"But dad it's her I promise she is with a group of humans. I smelled her, saw her she looks just like Aunt Marie and has Uncle Sean's eyes, and she even has the scar. She wasn't scared of Oclan, she saw a giant wolf and acted like he was nothing more than a puppy." I tried to quickly explain as my parents only got angrier.

"What do you mean she saw Oclan?" My father boomed "you let humans see your wolf?! Have you lost your mind?"

"Dad she wasn't with the other girls when she saw me.No humans saw me and she is definitely a shifter even if it isn't our Sadie." I responded feeling almost defeated.

"Please tell me she is safe John Luke" my mother whispered "regardless of if she is our Sadie she is with humans and the rogues have been attacking more lately." My mother was still upset and tears streaked her cheeks as she looked up at me from her place at my father's side.

"I followed them to their car and sent Patrick and Andrew to watch over wherever they are staying and plan on keeping a guard on them until I figure everything out"

"Good son. Keep her safe we will help any way we can" my dad answered eyes still glaring.

"I plan on trying to officially meet her tonight depending on where they go. I will need y'all to verify it is her at some point"

"John Luke I need you to promise me that regardless if she is our Sadie you are going to love her" my mom whispered.

"Of course I am Mom, she is a gift from the moon goddess, but I know it's her"

"Please be careful son especially if she is with humans" my dad sighed.

"I know Dad"

After my conversation with my parents headed up to my room my thoughts returning to the events of this afternoon. I showered quickly and threw on a pair of dark wash jeans and a light blue button up rolling the sleeves to just below my elbows.
