I end up back in my room, which hold so much warm memories and now feels so cold, I give up on the thought of getting any sleep, and head to the shower , after slipping into something comfortable, I sit on the bed staring at the urn that now holds my parents ashes, how life can change so suddenly. I notice that the sun will be rising soon, I climb off my bed reaching for the urn and head downstairs, to let Nana know that today will be the day I let go. I decided to release there ashes where they first met and fell in love, when I reach downstairs I am met with Nanas eyes filled with sadness, she has always been my pillar through all of this, and I knew I had to put on my brave face and be strong for her and myself. When I finally get the courage to speak “Nana I will be heading off to the Pier before the sun rises” Nana looking down at the urn she knew exactly what I was going to do at the Pier. I could see the panic in Nanas eyes, and insisting that she comes with me. I assure her that I will be fine, besides I know Nana hasn’t been feeling to well, and needs rest, but Nana refused and stood up. “Please Nana I begged, I need to do this for me, for closure” Nana sighed and gave me a hug and in warmly said “I understand dear, just know that I love you and I am here for you” How about we go for breakfast when I get back, I smile, I tell Nana before I head out the door. Feeling the cool breeze hit me as I step outside and make my way down to the pier, the view Is always best at sunrise, I didn’t even notice I was crying until I sat down at the edge of the pier with trembling hands holding onto my parents ashes, knowing that there wont be a right time to say my final goodbye. After releasing the ashes, I just sat the edge of the pier, motionless and numb drifting into thought, until I felt a hand on my shoulder that jolted me back to reality. “Excuse me miss you can’t be here, do you not realize how dangerous this is” with confusion written all over my face, he replied “the pier is under some minor reconstruction, which means that it’s not that stable” I nodded slightly. I was about to get up when I felt warm hands helping me up, “Thank you” I weakly smiled. ADRIANS POV Annoyed with my father, for forcing me into a marriage I don’t want and need, forcing me to settle down, all because of the media continuously branding me as a “Playboy” is damaging the business reputation. I don’t see how damaging it can really be. I never broke any girls heart, they all know it to be nothing but a one-night stand, no strings attached, a means to an end, as simple as that, even though they tend to become clingy. My father can’t do this to me, I am the one that grew the company to its multibillion-dollar status it is today, taking the big risks. Anger courses through me knowing that I wont be able to get out of this arranged marriage since my father was the one to decide this, then again I would always choose my hard work and my company even if it meant a loveless fake marriage to Melissa his business associates daughter, who thrives on material things and wealth, at least she has good looks going for her. I decide to head down to the pier, I already promised mom we would handle the minor reconstruction and extension of the pier, I could never really understand why she loved that place so much, whether she is happy, sad or just needs to get away that is where she will be. She might as well convince dad to move into the summer house full time, in that way dad can get off my back with my business and personal life, another win win situation, dad off my back and mom gets what she wants. When I reach the pier, I am not that surprised to see that most of the reconstruction has been completed and all that is left to do is the extension, the contractors well aware of my high expectations and ruthlessness, if I don’t get what I want. As I walk around to check on the finer detail, I notice someone sitting on the edge of the pier, as I reach closer, I notice it’s a girl, I gently squeeze her shoulder not to startle her she probably never even heard me coming. Excuse me miss I say, as she turns around, I am met with the most beautiful and intriguing hazel brown eyes, I notice that she had been crying her eyes a bit puffy and red, she looked adorable, and in that moment I would rip out the throat of the person who caused her tears, a strange sense of protection over her consumed me. You are not allowed to be in this section of the pier its dangerous, she sweetly apologized her voice almost angelic, I quickly helped her up wanting her to get away from this section, when I noticed a urn in her hand and my mind wondered off. Breaking out of my thoughts I see her heading back, and I run after her until she vanished into the crowd, who is this girl, I need to find her, and from the corner of my eye I see something twinkle on the ground, I bent down to pick it up and saw it was a locket the picture revealing the girl I just saw and what looks like her parents, I studied the picture and noticed she resembled a bit of both her parents, I decided to hold onto it.
