Lucas POV             After showering and getting dressed, I headed for my office. I needed to contact Corbin and see if he and Connor had made any progress. Hopefully we could figure out who was after Corinthia, and why. What did they want with her? At first, we thought maybe it was because she was my mate and the future pack Luna, but how could anyone have known that when the attack happened? Her and I had barely found out we were mates then ourselves, and neither of us knew if she would actually be coming to join me.             Corbin had speculated that it was an old pack enemy who had taken something he had done as Alpha personally and was now out to get him. So, we were currently tracking down all possibilities in that direction. I was going through old records in my office and he was going over his thoughts on each record while Connor had searched the property, inside and out, with no luck and had moved on to finding buyers for the animals and farm. The sooner they consolidated and fully moved, the sooner we could truly combine forces against whoever wanted Corinthia. Corbin also felt that if the attack was because of him, the rest of his family could be in trouble and he liked the added protection of being within the pack border.             I was glad to take a break to get lunch, even more excited to walk into the kitchen and find Corinthia dancing around, grabbing food. She was so sexy and her dance was a welcome distraction from the dead ends we kept hitting. Her butt wiggled a little and I couldn’t help but remember the feel of it in my hands from this morning.             After chatting with her and a quick lunch, she gave me a kiss and headed for to help her mom. I had warned her about the possible dangers of being so close to the border but just couldn’t bring myself to tell her she couldn’t go help her family. We were just moving past her hating me for what I had done to them three years ago, if this morning had told me anything.             Instead I mind linked my patrols and told them to be extra vigilant in that area and that there may be a threat. At least I could help keep her safe, even if I she wouldn’t stay safe inside the pack house. Maybe I could even get some work done knowing there were extra eyes out in her area. ------------             I was holed up in my office, scouring the records again and messaging Corbin if I found anything that could be of interest. So far, we’d come up with nothing and were starting to reconsider the reason behind the attack. Suddenly there’s a commotion down the hall, where the main door to the pack house is. I step out to find Nanette yelling and coming down the hall towards me.             “Alpha!” She picks up pace when she sees me. “They got her! I stepped away for a few minutes to get a second set of tools from the shed, and when I came back, she was gone!” She’s almost in tears.             “What’s going on Nanette? What are you talking about?”             “Cory’s been kidnapped!” She’s now sobbing.             “Tell me from the beginning, please.” If I’m going after them, I need all the facts.             “Cory helped unload Emily’s luggage and then came out to help me plant some tulips in front of the house. I gave her my tools and went to the garden shed to get another set and when I returned, she was gone. There’s blood on this, but otherwise no signs of anything. My baby is just, gone!” She hands me a trowel that has a small amount of blood mixed with the dirt on the end of it as she breaks down further.             I pat her back, trying to console her as I pull my phone out and call Corbin up. I fill him in on everything Nanette told me and then hand her the phone. I’m sure Corbin will be able to calm her more than I can and whatever he says to her seems to do the trick. She wipes her tears and thanks me before heading back to her home and other children.             I put the phone back to my ear, “She’s headed home Corbin.” I tell him. “We have some of their blood to go on now. They are definitely after just Corinthia because they could have made a move on anyone else at that house all morning but waited for her. That leads us back to them wanting her, to get to me. How could anyone else have known about her being my mate at the time of the first attempt at kidnapping her thought? I barely knew she was my mate then.”             “I don’t know Alpha, we found out when Ricky showed up and even that had only been hours after it happened. We didn’t tell anyone outside of our family and it was only discussed inside out home.” He informs me.             “That means there must be a mole here in the pack house. I only discussed it with Ricky, Cade, and my mother. No other pack member knew that I had found my mate until she was in the hospital.” I frown at the thought, now I have to find Corinthia AND a mole.             “I’ll head back now. Connor can finalize things with our buyers tomorrow and head back then. I need to be there with Nan and I can’t help you from here either.” Corbin says and ends the call.
