I had led my squad to countless cheer competitions. Gone head-to-head in presidential debates and gave speeches in front of the entire student body. I had completely BS’d my way through the interview portion of the Miss Sweet Pumpkin pageant! And yet, I had never been so nervous in my entire life.
My body shook so hard that Beth practically had to restrain me so Opal could do up the zipper on my dress. The seamstress had truly done amazing work. The dress was long and flowy, a creamy white tone with an entirely lace cut-out around my waist, and gathered triangular panels that swooped up to cover my breasts and rest on the edges of my shoulders, the fabric opening up to wide flowing faux sleeves under my arms that trailed along with my train as I walked, leaving my skin bare.
