Asa's POV We had been driving for nearly an hour following the lead on Jake—me leading in front with Marco right behind in the black SUV. I wanted to handle this personal so I didn't call for backup. Just Marco and I pursued Jake. The headlights carved through the darkness as the cracked road opened toward the river bend. The report we’d gotten from the injured guard replayed in my head: Jake had help from inside. “Anything?” I asked Marco over comms. “No movement yet." Marco’s voice came through calmly. "But the report said they used the service road near the quarry. It connects to the old bridge at Bracken Hill.” I remembered that place.
