Akira's eyes darted all around the room. She was still unable to wrap her head around the events that were happening. “That's wonderful,” Orion said as he reached a hand towards Akira to help her up. Unable to move, something about her body being paralysed as a result of fear, she still clung tightly to Kai, the one man she associated with safety in this crazy world that she had found herself. “Come on now, take my hand beautiful lady.” Orion urged her. Still in shock at what almost turned out to be her end , Akira just sat there, kneeling, drenched in sweat. Her Legs had become disobedient to her brain's command as they would not stop shaking no matter how much she willed them to. True to the voices in her head, she was already losing her hold on reality. Orion, with his hands still stretched out twirled his eyebrows, a gesture he seemed to have picked up over time watching humans physically and on the Television. It was an effective way to get others to do whatever you want them to, at least, that was. What the recent episode of his favourite human series taught him. “I----...” Akira muttered, and it turns out that her feet were not the only thing that had gained independence. “Trust me.” Akira gulped and took hold of Orion's hands. “That's it,easy does it,” Orion said as he pulled her slowly to her feet. He could feel the rules going crazy, his mission was to calm Her down as much as he could. Kai had never been the hospitable type and he knew him right from when he was a little pup. “Come on,let's get you something to eat!” Orion urged as he walked out the room with Akira. Kai waited, there was a lot he had to say. “The only reason you all have breath in your filthy lungs is because I let you.” “Do not forget for a minute your place in this pack, I am about alpha dn you will remember that!” “And to you!” He said as he faced Cain, “do not try anything funny.” He warned, “If you as much as look at her the wrong way, I will not hesitate to gut you out myself.” “The pigs in the farm need a change of diet and I for one know how delighted they would be when they consume you. It's not everyday a prey gets to consume the predator.” Cain felt insulted, “is that a threat?” He fired, “I am the beta of this Pack I have done nothing wrong I'm trying to defend the interest of it's wolves” “Well I suggest you start protecting your own interest.” Kai said with a warning as he walked out the room and down the hallway. ……………. “Tea?” Orion asked Akira as he led her out to the balcony. The warm air soothed her tension, she breathed easily now. She shook her head slowly at the request of the strange man who stood before her. True to his disposition and the way Kai honoured him, he looked like he had seen a couple hundred years. But there was something about him, strength? Youth? Everything about him pointed to how young he was while suggesting how old he was. Whatever the case might be, Akira was glad to associate another face with safety. She had her limitations with this one and it did not include taking tea from him. In as much as he gave the suggestion that saved her life, he also gave the suggestion that would end it. She had six months to live. Those men back there had proclaimed judgement on her already. She still had no idea about what they wanted her to do in the six months that she was here. “It's just tea l…” Orion urged her, “it's not something harmful, or you do not like tea?” “I do like tea,” she replied. “Why don't you accept my offering of tea?” Akira chuckled. The way he slowly reminded her of her father, he doted on her and spoke to her like she was some cute little fur ball. “What's with the laughter?” Orion asked, amused at her response and touched by her cute smile. “You remind me of someone.” she said. Orion smiled and poured out a cup of tea for her. She took one look at the streaming antique cup of tea and had a change of heart. She was willing to move her limitations a bit further. She accepted the cup with both hands and muttered a weak “thank you.” She took one whiff if the tea and her senses tingled. She liked up from the cup to Orion who was watching her with expectant eyes. “Lemon?” She asked. He nodded, “you like it?” She took one sip and let her taste buds provide the answer to that question first to her before she passed it on to Orion. “Yes…” “Well I am glad you did, drink, there's more!” One thing was certain, that no matter how much he tried, Orion could not hide the fact that he was pleased with himself. He was happy he did something the Human liked. He believed all humans loved lemon in their tea, and for once his stereotype proved useful. Akira was one human that enjoyed lemon in their tea. “More?” He asked as he lifted the tea pot?. “No, I'm good. Besides, it's getting late” she said, “I should be going home now…” The silence that followed brought a sudden realisation upon Akira. This was her life now, she had no other place to go. “I am never leaving here alive am I ?” She asked. Without missing a beat, Orion asked, “I think we should get you ready for dinner, you need a change of clothes and it would not be a pleasing sight to be seen with blood all over you during dinner.” Akira temporarily forgot about her problem and was focused on how she looked. She reeked and she definitely needed to freshen up. “Come on.” He said with a smile. “She's not bad after all.” Orion thought. he had already taken a liking to the young human woman. She reminded him of his first and only lover. Another human!
