I was on the balcony, depressed and missing my family when Hailey called me, “Lady Maeve.”
Letting out a rough, shaky exhale, I wiped my tears. “Yes, Hailey?” Soft music floated in my ears, calming my nerves.
“There’s a small concert going on downstairs. A pianist has come from the Bones pack and is performing. Lady Cathy Bones has asked if you would like to join them.”
Surprised, I raised my eyebrow. “Lady Cathy has invited me?” After the argument we’d had, she was inviting me to watch the performance? That was strange.
Hailey clasped her hands in front of her and intertwined her fingers. Fidgeting them, she said, “It’s an open invitation to everyone. The pianist is really good and renowned in the Mist. If you don’t want to go, I’ll inform her.”
