A Mate After A Pup

Chapter 2

Cole's POV

    "Rynn, I've missed you!" I stretch my arms out wide and get down on one knee. My little girl runs to my arms as fast as her little legs could.

    "Da-da!" We embrace each other with bear hugs. I've been gone 3 days with my warriors assisting the Two Moon pack. Two Moon is the largest hack across the United States but Alpha Stephen is my best friend. So anytime they need assistance, Red Wood will join them. Red Wood is nowhere as large as Two Moon but we are one of the largest packs across the nation. We have approximately 1100 pack members.

    “Were you a good girl for Nanny Claire?” I ask as I snuggle into her sweet laughter. Rynn just celebrated her second birthday before I left to help Alpha Stephen.

    “Yes da-da! Nan Claire cookie!” She then points to the kitchen counter. 

    “Mm, did you help Nanny Claire make cookies? It smells so delicious.” She nods her head and eagerly reaches to go grab a cookie. I let her down and she trots off to the kitchen.

    “Rynn was so excited to bake you some cookies for when you came home. I hope you don’t mind.” Claire smiled as she was wiping her hands with a towel.

    “It is no problem at all. This is the best coming home gift I could ever receive!” I grab a chocolate chip cookie and take a bite. “Mmmm.”

    “Rynn was very good. She was in bed by 8pm each day and she asked about you every minute. I took her to the daycare in the mornings so she would have some friends to play with instead of being cooped up at home. We went to the pack park today and had a picnic for lunch. After her nap, we decided to go flower picking for Jocelyn’s grave. She said mommy for the first time as well!”

    Tears swell in my eyes. My daughter has never met her mother. Jocelyn was my mate of two years. She was Red Moon’s Luna. She was my everything. 

    Claire broke the silence and put her hand on my arm, “I understand you want to be strong for Rynn but it is ok to cry in front of her. She should know that the big, bad Alpha has a soft side as well.” Claire giggles. 

    “Thank you Claire. I am so happy that Jocelyn hired you to be Rynn’s nanny. Jocelyn knew exactly what she was doing. I miss her so much.” A tear escapes from my eye.

    “Da-da sad?” Rynn notices the tear and begins to walk towards me with a cookie in hand. I quickly smile from ear to ear.

    “No, daddy is happy to have his Rynn back in his arms!” I scoop her up again with cookie crumbs and chocolate smears all over her face.

    “I am going to head out. I am off tomorrow but if you need me to come for a few hours, don’t be afraid to ask.” Claire waves and heads out.

    It is only 2pm. Rynn already had a nap so the day was free for us to do whatever we wanted to do. “What would you like to do today, pumpkin?” Rynn grins and screams “Da-da play park?” 

    “You’ve already been to the park today, do you want to go to the playground instead?”

    “Yes! Go go Da-da.” My heart beats faster every time she calls me Da-da. Thank you Moon Goddess for blessing me with the sweetest pup. We pack up a basket with snacks and drinks. We head to the pack playground.
