Eyes

1001 Words
Ella As I buckled my seatbelt and listened to the safety speech from the cabin crew all I could feel were eyes boring into the back of my skull. I glanced and there sat the most handsome man I’d ever seen. He looked bigger than Sebastian and that was one hard feat. Had dark tanned skin and the most intriguing golden eyes. He was definitely in incredible shape as he looked like he could burst out of his suit at any moment. I simply smiled and turned around. Berating myself for even finding him attractive- I’d just agreed to give Seb a chance. 3 months, I was technically still in a relationship for the next 3 months. I couldn’t go looking at a guy that way. This wouldn’t do, I polished off my rum and coke and one swift gulp and put on my eye mask. This was going to be a long flight and I needed to be well rested the other side. As I fidgeted and became restless, I lifted my mask only to see him still staring. What did he want. Did I have something on me, oh wait. I’d been sobbing uncontrollably, he was probably thinking who’s this crazy lady with make up all over her face, looking like she was a member of the band kiss. As I got up to go to the bathroom I could feel his eyes following me, I must really look horrific. I cleaned myself up and spent the rest of the flight on edge. He was still staring, like chief creep. At one point I convinced myself he must be a nervous flyer and he was just staring into space but every time I moved he moved. At last the flight landed into JFK and I raced my way through to security and the baggage claim. Hoping not to bump into the weirdo, but there he was, right behind me. I’d seen one too many movies where women travelling alone had been kidnapped, I was not about to be one of them. ‘Eyes, throat, shin, balls’ I was receipting all the weak points that I would have to aim for. I’d fight, I wouldn’t go with him easy. I hadn’t come all this way, left my partner, family, friends, my entire life just to be taken by some huge asshole. I’d fight. At this point I’d fished my keys out of my bag and had them in hand, ready to scratch him should he try anything. I would not become another statistic for the second time today. I was desperate for the toilet but knew if I went into the cubicle I was an easy target, it would have to wait. I just hope I can get a taxi, I hope there’s too many people around. “Mr Collins, how wonderful to see you again, may I take your luggage?” I over heard the airport steward talking to the creep. Of course they knew him. I bet he was always in airports following young lone women. “No, thanks but I’ve got it.” That confirmed it, why wouldn’t he let them take his luggage? why was he still here? Me he was here for me. He probably overheard me and Seb in the airport and knew I was alone, an easy target. How the hell was I going to get down to NC alone without this guy taking me. The plan had been to drive down, stop at a few states and explore. Sort of a mini holiday before the job hut commenced. If I drove he could follow me, I needed to collect my thoughts- come up with a plan in a crowded place. I headed for the nearest coffee shop in the airport, ordered a double expresso and sat next a family of 5. They looked like they were kind and I struck up conversation with the mum, commenting on how lovely her family was and asking questions about things to do in NY. If he’d followed me, he surely wouldn’t try anything now- the family would notice. Then I heard it “decaf cappuccino to sit in please” it was him, I would know his voice anywhere. It was locked into my mind and I was on high alert. I needed an out. I’d been followed once before, I’d just finished work in the bar whilst I was at Uni. As me and my friend Emily drove home we noticed this car following us. At first I thought we were over thinking it but as we sped up so did they, as we turned so did they. We’d turned up a street you’d only go down if you lived there. It was an odd street where you curved back onto the main road if you kept going. The ideal street to see if they were following us. They’d have stayed on the main road otherwise but no they followed us. I rang Seb in panic. Crying and not knowing what to do. He was out with a few of his rugby friends and told me to turn down a different street to make sure. He was in his car and coming to us, I begged him to hurry up and he had us drive into the main town. Too many people for anything to happen. We parked up outside a club and they parked up behind us. I was petrified and about to call for the doorman when Seb and his friends appeared. Without hesitation they surrounded the car who had followed us. They were a group of young boys, just passed their test and thought it was funny. An innocent game- to them. I needed Seb now, I needed him to save me. As much as he was emotionless, he was always there for me, my big strong protector. What had I done? I wanted nothing more than to be home with Seb but here I was moments away from being taken.
