Where do I go from here?

Chapter 5 I sat at the gas station a few more minutes, and got out and finally went inside the store. I grabbed myself a bottle of water, and bag of chips. Leta whined in my head. She desperately wanted to run. But now wasn’t the time. ‘You should just ditch the car, travel by foot.’ ‘No, I won’t be doing that.’ I pulled out of the gas station, and pulled out the phone Mally had given me. Before I could even call it ringed. It was Mally. I answered. “Did she make it there in one piece?” “Of course I did silly! That’s why I’m calling you.” Samantha giggled on the other end of the line. I let out a sigh of relief. I was driving down the road slowly as I talked with her. “Oh by the way. I just realized something. They don’t know your hair color changed.” Oh my gosh, that’s right! “True, so I’ll be pretty alright for a while I guess.” “I’m watching the news right now, they’re talking about sending out as many cops as they can. Theyre considering this an act of terrorism. They’re using this to further their agenda against the supernaturals.” Leta growled in my head. “They want your head.” Those words alone, didn’t scare me. No. I felt angry. I took a deep breath. “Do you know any holy places nearby me. I’m still near the gas station.” She was quiet a moment. “Actually yes. It’s about 10 miles south, down the road from where you are. It’s abandoned.” “Perfect. Alright kid, give me updates when you can. Love you.” “Love you too.” She hung up. —— I drove those ten miles, and sure enough, there was an old abandoned church. It looked gloomy and haunting. It’s once beautiful stain glass windows had been blown out, it’s wooden doors barely hanging on by their hinges. I walked up the crumbling steps and pulled the doors open, causing them to creak loudly. I stepped inside. The pews were still in place, but a not a Bible to be seen. I found some matches and some candles, and lit them. I put them in a circle and sat in the middle. I took off my eye patch. I remember in the videos Susan showed us, a witch had done that when she was getting ready to perform a spell. Maybe this is what im supposed to do? I closed my eyes. ‘Leta, what do I do?’ ‘Focus. Imagine you’re inside your mind, and keeping your eyes closed, open them inside your head.’ I concentrated hard, and eventually, I opened my eyes. It was dark. So dark. ‘Leta?!’ I called out. ‘I’m right here.’ She came up in front of me. She was my height. I was in awe of how she looked. Her silvery white fur, black tipped ears, black tail, black paws. I had only seen her face that first night. ‘You’re gorgeous!’ I exclaimed. ‘Yes, WE are. We are one. We are special.’ I pet her between the ears. Her fur was extra soft. ‘Well let’s check out this block, shall we?’ Her ears flattened, but she led the way. Immediately the song I hated the most started getting louder as we made our way there. The space in my head was huge. Soon we came to it. The color of the block was red and black. I put out my hand, and it touched it. Once I did, whispers started erupting in my ear drums. ‘What the f**k am I?’ ‘I don’t know.’ Leta whined. I pushed against it. It felt like it was about to rip open. I was about to rip it open when Leta became alert, her ears swiveling around, her nose to the sky. ‘There’s someone in the church with us.’ I wildly opened my eyes. I didn’t see anything around me. But I could smell something, or several somethings. “Whose there?!” I called out, trying to sound strong and confident. I saw movement in the corner of my eye. And I turned toward it. ‘Need me to come out?’ ‘No, just hold on.’ “Come out, I won’t hurt you.” I called out again. “You won’t hurt me? What was that dark haze forming around you then?” A males voice called out. “I’ll tell you once you come out.” A tall boy then stepped out into the candle light, as well as two other figures. A boy and a girl. “Who are you, and what are you?” The tallest boy asked. He had black spiky hair that went out in all directions, pale skin, and dark purple eyes. “I’m Darian. I’m a wolf and something else.” “So you’re a hybrid?” The girl asked. She had short brown hair that barely reached her shoulders. Big brown eyes, and tanned skin. From the smell of her I could tell she was a wolf, she’s definitely a few years older then me. As for the two boys, I didn’t know. “Yes.” I answered honestly. “What are you doing in here, couldn’t you tell this was occupied?” The other boy asked. “No, I didn’t know. I only came here to figure out what the other part of me was, then I would be on my way.” “Hmmm.” The tall boy looked like he was deep in thought. “Well then, don’t let us stop you.” He stepped back and sat on one of the pews, as well as the other two. “What are you two?” I asked the boys. “Vampire.” He said cooly. “What’s with your eye?”he asked me. “Long story.” He just nodded his head in understanding. I concentrated once again, closing my eyes. I was back in the same place. Right in front of the block. I reach up again, the whispers penetrating my ear drums. I reached up with my right hand and then my left, and ripped open the block. A whoosh of cold air hit my face. ‘Hello Darian. It’s a pleasure to finally be a part of you.’ A warbled voice said. It sent a chill down my spine, and caused Leta to whimper and sit down. ‘Who are you?!’ ‘I am you. The other part of you. I’m Danica.’ And suddenly, a girl appeared in front of me. Her eyes all black, her skin all black, with white streaks coming from her eyes, almost as if they were spider webs. But she’s beautiful. She looked a little like me. We looked at each other a long while. ‘Sorry, that I couldn’t help you and Leta. But I couldn’t come forward until you yourself broke the seal.’ She touched my face. Her touch felt warm, and I felt at ease. She then touched Letas face. She was nervous, but she leaned into her touch. ‘What are you?’ ‘I’m a demon. You’re part wolf, and part demon.’ She answered. She turned behind her, to where the seal was broke. The rest of the seal crumbled away. ‘Are we, bad?’ Danica laughed. A full belly laughter. She laughed for almost a straight minutes. ‘Geez that’s a good one. I mean in terms of a good bit of humans, yes. As for supernaturals, no.’ Her black eyes twinkled. ‘You, my dear Darian, are one of a kind. Special. The first ever demon hybrid. We’re a dying breed you know?’ ‘No, I didn’t know.’ ‘Well it’s time for you to go back. Leta and I have some work to do.’ ‘Wait what-‘ but I’m thrown back out of my head. I took in a gasp of air and stood up immediately. “Well, that was something.” The one vampire said. He came up to me, eyeing me closely. I realized now he definitely looked older then I thought. He looked to be 24. “I guess since you’re done, it’s time for us to introduce ourselves. I’m Declan.” The other boy stepped forward. He almost looked like Declan, aside from his hair, Which was Snow White. But he definitely looked younger. “I’m Victor.” He bowed. “And I’m Justina.” The wolf chirped. “Nice to meet your acquaintance. I thought that, werewolves and vampires were sworn enemies.” Declan chuckled. “Oh we were, until humans became the problem. Now we work together. Victor and I picked up this pup in New York. Her whole pack was slaughtered by human hunters. They had also done the same to our family. There’s others like us, hiding in the shadows. There’s still packs and the like all around, but they don’t bother with us. They only look out for their own as of right now, and cut deals with humans. Especially after the last demon was killed, about 15 years ago. The King of all of us.” Declan looked deep in thought. “Did you figure out the other part of you.” “Yes.” “I can assume you’re going to tell me right?” His eyebrow rose. I sighed. “I’m part demon.” I exhaled out my nose. “That explains your eye then. What happened there?” “My human foster parents.” I chuckled darkly. “Well, seems you got a taste of the hate already then?” “You could say that, my siblings had to run from them after my sister shot our foster father in the chest.” “DAMN THATS AWESOME!” Victor yelled out gleefully. “Yeah, but I’m the one being blamed.” “I don’t see it as terrible. Really. I mean you can used as a martyr perhaps. Tell the masses your side of the story.” Declan shrugged “We’re gonna start an uprising. At least try to.” Victor said proudly. “Just the 4 of us?” “Sure, why not. We have a demon with us now.” “But, I have no idea what I’m doing.” Declan let out a sigh. “Well, we’re gonna help you. I’ve lived on this earth for over 100 years, I know a thing or two about demons.” “There are really no demons left?” Declan tapped his chin. “Not that I know of. If there is, they’re certainly not wanting to lift a finger, unless they’re in Europe. The safest place to be.” “So what do we do?” “First, you need to train. Especially with your wolf.” Justina smiles, standing in front of me. “I will help you with that. Curious you have your wolf so young.” She raised an eyebrow. “And your demon side, will train you herself.” “Well, what are we waiting for?” —— So turns out I know nothing about any of the supernaturals. Susan didn’t know Jack s**t about supernatural beings. Declan was close to being 160 years old. After a vampire turns 16 they stop aging for 20 years then grow a year older. For wolves it’s nearly the same, just a 10 year difference, and they stop aging at 18. So Justina is really 34, in human terms. Faeries age extremely slowly, which explains Samantha’s tiny frame. She won’t reach full maturity until she’s 24 in human years. As for demons, they’re old. The way the way they age is much more different. The Demon king reigned for over 300 years. And all demons stayed within the same kingdom, not broken up like packs, covens, or families. There’s still so much to learn, but it is after all, the first day of my new life.
