Alec’s POV
My mate stood in the corridor, her eyes rolled back into her head. To say I’m scared is an understatement. She was frozen in place. Her feet just barely touching the floor as she floated.
“What’s wrong with her!” I yelled at Declan, who stood behind me.
“I-I don’t know, I’ve never seen her do this.” He answered honestly.
“Maybe Maria would know…” lily, his mate murmured beside him.
“Is she well enough to move?”
“Perhaps I can carry her down.” Hank came running down the corridor after hearing me yell, his mate fast behind him.
“Please, If you don’t mind.”
Hank nodded and headed back up the stairs.
I grabbed my mates hand, for the first time. She felt cool to the touch, but even still, I felt the electricity. The warmth, even though she was cold, flooded through me. I didn’t want to let go.
Hank had carried Maria down the stairs bridal style, and had her look at Darian closely. She observed her for what felt like an hour.
“She’s alright. Her subconscious is just somewhere else. Not in her head, but some other plane of existence. She’ll be back soon.” Maria said matter of factly.
“What should we do in the mean time?” I asked. Though her words reassured me, I was still worried for my mate.
“Don’t move her, it’ll throw everything off once she returns.”
I nodded my head, and looked at my mates face. She didn’t seem in pain, but even still, I was scared.

Darians POV
My father, my only living parent, sat before me.
“You’re, my dad?” I said, barely a whisper.
“I am. And while I don’t entirely like the violence, I’m proud of you.”
I sat there, not knowing what to say. I had questions thought out from when I was younger. Like why did they give me up, or what happened to them. But before I could ask any questions, my father spoke.
“Darian is such a beautiful name. Your mother picked it out. It means, upholder of the good. She loved you before you were even born, as did I. We found out we were mates before the war started. An alpha born female, mated to the demon king. Who would have thought?”
My father, is the demon king?!
“That has never happened before. We mated, and soon after, the humans found a way to banish all the demons out of the world. Since after all, we’re immortal. Not even the machine they had created could harm us. Your mother was left defenseless. You were born under a eclipse, blessing you with powers of the moon goddess herself.”
He paused, he almost looked like he was about to cry.
“She stayed with a wolf pack after her family had been murdered by hunters. They protected her and you, until they couldn’t. I had to watch all of it. They murdered your mother, then took you. As well as your adoptive brother Dre. Dre fanned innocence of being a wolf, and said you were his baby sister, a human as well, to protect you. He did this without being asked, as if he knew you were special. They adopted you out to that family. Keeping you and Dre together. He was hoping his shift wouldn’t happen when it did, but he couldn’t hold it back. He is still alive, just so you know.”
This was a lot to take in. Dre lied to protect me. Like a big brother would. My mother was killed by hunters.
“You are the last demon on earth. And they can’t banish you either. Being a hybrid won’t allow them to do so. You are the most powerful being on earth.”
“Why now, why do you reach out to me now? Why didn’t you when I was getting my face burned off, when Mia died, when when…”
I started to cry, the tears burning my face.
“Oh my sweet girl, I’m sorry. I couldn’t get a clear connection, until now. You met your mate, and that made it stronger, please, don’t cry.” He starred at me.
“Why do you deny it right now.”
“Oh so now you’re going to lecture me on mates too huh?” I hissed unintentionally.
My father chuckled.
“Yes, I guess I am. Stop denying him. You’ll be stronger together. Not that I’m happy about my child finding her mate, I wish I could rip him to shreds, because I don’t want anyone touching my little girl. But, I see he’s a good person and that he’s perfect for you.”
“Dad, what do I do. How do I stop this? How can I make the world okay again?”
“You will find out on your own little one. And you’ll find a way to set us free again. I know you don’t know the world before we were banished, but we all lived in harmony, and some humans, didn’t like that. They loved the chaos. The chaos they brought to everyone. Even with us being as powerful as we are, we didn’t cause as much chaos as we did. They made wars. Wars against their own kind, and then they dragged us in. We didn’t agree, and they got rid of us. The only ones that can protect other supernatural beings.”
I was learning so much. In such little time.
But I knew that time was up. It felt like I was here for hours.
I stood up when my dad did. We closed the gap between us, and hugged each other tight. It was a warm embrace. I felt deep down that he is in fact my father. The bond we share, as a family.
“You’re going to do amazing things, little one. I’m already so proud of things you have accomplished. But, you do need to calm down with the violence.”
“I will see you again.” He whispered.
And then I was thrown back, back into my body. Alec was still standing in front of me, I haven’t moved. My feet planted themselves on the floor. My head felt heavy, but I know what I must do now.
My mate was holding my shoulders securely, the warmth trickling throughout my body, bolts of electricity flowing through me. My fathers voice echoed through my head. “Stop denying him.”
“My mate,” I whispered. The mate bond is strong. I felt all this love for him.
My hands still shaky, I grabbed his face inbetween my hands, pulled him in for a kiss.
He was surprised, but his lips moved with mine, he crushed my body into his, not hard though. Our bodies felt like they were molding into one.
“It’s about damn time.” Declan laughed behind us.
We didn’t even bother pulling away from one another, we stood like that for a while.
“Okay now this is getting awkward.” Declan and the rest of them walked away from us to give us space.
My mate. All mine. And he truly is perfect.
