Chapter Thirty One Andrea abruptly regained consciousness. Realizing it was a paradoxical thought, she was still surprised to find herself alive. It felt like she’d been dead for a long time. She opened her eyes and saw a blur of color moving away, but the light was much too bright, and she closed them again. She took a few breaths and sensed she was outdoors, sitting on a wooden bench. She opened her eyes again and looked around. Back where it all started! The van had been parked just over there! She was smiling, and couldn’t stop. She felt exultant, as if she’d not merely been returned from the dead—miracle enough—but reborn. She was wearing her usual jogging outfit. Everything felt familiar, as it had been, as it should be. She could feel her keys in her pocket, her old running shoes
