Sam's smile seemed strange to Sophie. The girl did not understand why Sam actually smiled when she asked. There was a strange voice hearing in Sophie's mind. Like an unusual heartbeat. But from where? Sophie touched her chest on the right. However, her heart beats regularly, around 60-100 bpm. Then whose heartbeat?
Sophie's eyes turned to Sam, standing in front of her. Sophie was sitting watching Sam from top to bottom. Damn! The man was very handsome, even though his expression was frigid. But he worried about Sophie as if he knew that Sophie's hand must be injured after the tragedy in Sophie's new room.
"You don't know why you're here, right?" Sam asked, still with a cold expression on his face. The sound of the beating heart was still in Sophie's mind.
"Why is your heart beating so fast? Why are you still okay after jumping off the fifth floor? This is weird. You should be dead if you jump off this building. Or at least break your leg." Sophie stood up. She pointed to Sam's leg, which was so sturdy that there was no injury.
Sam looked at Sophie as if he knew something, but he was silent. He didn't answer Sophie's question.
"You can ask Jane. I can't say anything," Sam replied.
Sophie sighed as if belittling Sam's words. She understood that she was just a stranger in this place. Sophie shouldn't have asked so many questions.
"Why did you come to see me?" Sophie asked.
"What?" Sam answered nonchalantly as if Sophie's question didn't matter.
"Why did you come to my room? I don't know how you got into mine. If you don't want to explain the strange things happening in this place, at least explain why you came into my room." Sophie had to get an answer this time.
Sam grabbed Sophie's shoulder. But Sophie suddenly felt that Sam's hands were too heavy for her. The girl almost fell when Sam grabbed her by the shoulders, but Sam quickly helped Sophie not to fall. Sam instead helped Sophie to sit back on the bed. While Sam remained standing in front of her.
"I want to confirm something," Sam replied.
Sophie immediately protested, Sam said. "To confirm what? We've never met before. I don't even know what kind of university this is."
"You are very impulsive, Miss…."
"Call me Sophie! My name is Sophie." Sophie impulsively told Sam to just say her name. She didn't like the formality between them.
Sam smiled again, but why was his face so cold? His smile was terrifying to Sophie. Then why did Jane say she was an idol on campus? Strange.
"So you want to tell me your name? Okay." Sam held out his hand. "Introducing, I am Samuel Anthony. Son of Alpha," replied Sam.
"Alpha? What is Alpha? Your father's name is Alpha? Just like a social structure?" Sophie muttered.
Sam sighed. He seemed disappointed by Sophie's response to his introduction.
"Okay, I'll let this go. You don't
should say that to Alpha's son…."
Suddenly Sophie got up. She approached Sam and brought her head closer to Sam's chest. Suddenly Sam fell silent. He even almost choked at Sophie's sudden attitude.
"What are you doing?" said Sam as if he was not moved by Sophie's impulsive actions. "You're too impulsive!"
"Your heartbeat is clear. It's strange. I always have it. Why can I hear your heartbeat? It keeps ringing in my mind." Sophie wondered. But Sam was silent. The man looked at Sophie in surprise. Really, Sophie felt like something was wrong with her.
"Where's Sam?" A woman's shriek sounded from outside the room. Sophie was sure the voice wasn't anywhere near the infirmary. But Sophie heard it clearly.
"Someone's looking for you," Sophie said to Sam. "A woman." She added.
Sam closed his eyes as if he knew who was looking for him. Sam was about to leave, but he turned again and looked at Sophie.
"Don't come out until the sound goes away," Sam warned Sophie.
"That woman's voice? She's nowhere near here," Sophie said. She didn't need to worry. She knew clearly the voice was quite far from the infirmary.
"Just listen to what I say. She doesn't like humans. You should be here first. I'm also sorry for what happened to your hand. I didn't expect you to be that weak," said Sam. This time he stepped out. It was so out that the sound of Sam's footsteps could hear in Sophie's mind when she was away.
Sophie was still astonished. The girl didn't understand anything. Everything that happened the day she arrived was extraordinary.
"What kind of place is this?" Sophie muttered.
Sophie stood up. She didn't want to hear what Sam had to say. Sophie wanted to go back to her room. The infirmary made her feel like a patient ready for surgery. Sophie didn't like this atmosphere.
Sophie walked out of the infirmary without telling Olive. She didn't know where Olive had gone. Right now, Sophie just wanted to sleep peacefully in her room. When she was opening the door. From the right, the distance might be several tens of meters, but Sophie could clearly hear the conversation between Sam and a girl.
"I sense a human scent near you, Sam," said the voice.
"That's impossible. There are no humans here! We have to get going. Professor Douglas' class is about to start," said Sam.
Sophie heard their footsteps moving away. The girl wondered why Sam said there were no humans in this place? It was clear that all of them in this place were humans. Is it just a term among young people on this campus? Recently, young people often come across new terms.
"What the hell? Isn't everyone in this place human?" Sophie grumbled.
The girl walked out of the infirmary. The pain in her hand was still there, but she couldn't just stay in the infirmary. Sophie wanted to rest while recognizing this place.
Sophie walked past the dormitory lobby. And again, all the dorm members in the lobby were staring at him. Sophie looked down. She walked away, ignoring them. Sophie is used to getting bullied. She was tough enough to ignore things like this.
When Sophie was about to go up the stairs to the fifth floor, suddenly a beautiful woman with black hair and yellow eyes confronted Sophie. Sophie had an intimidating look on her face. No, not just intimidating, but full of hate.
"Who is this human?" said the woman harshly.
