CHAPTER ELEVENWhen he got home there was a message waiting from Marvia Plum. Call her at police HQ if it was early, otherwise at home. He dialed the Oxford Street number. She answered on the first ring, and she didn’t sound sleepy. And she didn’t waste time on any preliminaries. “O’Farrell’s dead.” Lindsey closed his eyes, shocked. He’d stood near the front window to phone Marvia, the drapes drawn a few inches to admit a shaft of light from the streetlamps outside.
