"Ms. Keila"
My eyes went to my driver who was standing in front of our white SUV. He had an umbrella with him. I looked at the weather for today and it looks like the universe is happy because the sun is shining brightly.
I walked my way to Kiko, the name of my driver.
"Kiko, what's the umbrella for?" I asked in confusion.
My guard, who's already in his early forties, looked at me coldly. "I'm just preparing it. The weather might be too hot for you." he said.
"Kiko! The stone guy, good afternoon to you." my eyes immediately rolled when I heard June's voice. I stared at the old Kiko and as usual, he was just cold and unbothered.
He's probably used to June's craziness already.
"What is it, June?" I asked my best friend.
"Nothing. I was just wondering if I could have a ride, hehe." I sighed at her question.
I was extremely confused why June had been catching for a free ride with me the whole week. It's so fishy. I know her family's well-off, they have a car and I even had the chance to sleep in their mansion.
"Do you have a problem, June?" she looked away from me and just scanned her eyes around the parking lot of the school.
"Let's go inside. Are we dropping you at your village?" I asked instead. I didn't want to force her to spit out information if she didn't want to.
June gave me an apologetic smile and held my wrist to people just few meters away from Kiko.
"I promise I'll tell you about everything. Thanks for your understanding." she whispered.
I nodded at June and just jokingly pulled her hands. "You better tell me. That's the payment you owe me for wasting my gas allowance this week. Imagine driving to the north when my house's way is to the south." I guilt tripped her.
June just rolled her eyes at me and went to Kiko's direction again.
"I'm sorry if you have to drive longer this time Kiko, but you have no choice. You're serving my pretty best friend, Keila Niveda." June teased Kiko.
She's really fond of mocking my bogygurad since she's really eager to get a reaction from him. She said the guy's face looked like a stone due to his emotionless expression.
June and her perceptions. Tsk.
"Thanks best friend. Bye Kiko." June gave me a wink and hurriedly walked her way inside their village. She's really into something fishy.
"Are we off to go home, Ms. Keila?" Kiko looked at me in the rear-view mirror.
"Let's buy a fruit juice at Gina's first and then we'll go home." I'm suddenly craving an apple fantasy.
My brows furrowed when I saw a group of people sitting in the middle of our living room. I took a sip of my apple juice and started walking towards our house.
"They're probably my dad's friends."
When I opened the door, everyone's eyes looked at me like I was the person they had been looking for. I felly like a prey. Shame sipped through my being.
"Good afternoon." I said shyly and was about to walk up the stairs when I heard my dad's voice calling my name.
I turned around to see if it was really my dad and my eyes widened when I saw who's beside him.
"Donato?" I asked in shock.
Donato Niveda, my older brother who was establishing a safari business in the Philippines, was lively standing beside my father.
"Keila, I missed you." I slowly walked my way to his direction and immediately gave him a hug.
There were a lot of people that it was already embarrassing to scan through all of them. And now I even disregarded my brother's presence.
"Why did't you tell me you were coming home?!" I asked.
"Surprise?" he shrugged his shoulders and gave me a cocky smile.
I looked at my Daddy Romy and gave him a light hug. "Good afternoon, dad" I greeted and he kissed my cheeks.
"Where's mommy?" my eyes turned to my brother.
Among all of us, it's my mom who greatly missed this young CEO.
"Up stairs, she cried a lot and didn't want to get out of the room until she felt beautiful again." Donato joked.
The three of us chuckled.
"Before you go to your room, meet my friends first." he pointed the old men talking and cheering with each other in our living room. They were all drinking alcohol drinks.
I stood closer to my brother and put my mouth closer to his ears. "Why are your friends twice older than you? You're such an oldie Mr. CEO" I teased.
Donato pinched my hand hard and I made a silent groan. "You call that maturity, Keila."
I almost laughed at his silly reason. "Ew. Then I don't want to be mature anymore."
"Shut up. Just come with me"
Because I annoyed my brother too much, he harshly pulled me to his so-called friends and introduced me to them. They were all respectful and gentlemen, unlike my dad's aggressive friends. My dad's business partners are way humor inclined, which is so corny.
"Are you staying here for good?" I asked Donato when we were finally left alone in our mystical garden. Our parents are already sleeping and I'm having a night talk with my one and only brother. I missed him.
"I can't promise. My business is starting to prosper in Ph so I might need to go back there. But, of course, I'll visit here often, not to mention hundred of rants I'll be getting from my mother if I won't."
I chuckled at his last statement. Mom's really emotional, specially that she's getting old now.
"Are you really leaving for business and not for Her?" I felt how Donato froze at my question.
I looked at the depths of the starry night and I gave him a teasing laugh. "Am I right when I'll say that you're choosing the other part of the world just to avoid her?" I asked sarcastically.
I hate to bring up the past but I just didn't want to leave this untalked. If she is still the reason why my brother is leaving, then it's being unfair.
"You're wrong," Donato said coldly. "I'm not that attached to fail to move on. And will you please move on from something that is not even worth talking about." that's the only thing he said and later on left me.
