"For additional questions, you can go to my office." Mr. Madrigal, our English teacher, s***h classroom adviser, then left our classroom.
I heard how my classmates started flocking about the new announcement.
Mr. Madrigal announced the possible fusion of classes in this hectic week. They said that this month conducted more seminars and trainings for the teachers resulting to lack of teaching personnel. Didn't they thought about this before conducting those meetings? I mean, students should be the priority right.
"So does that mean we're going to be fused with the other section?"
"I hopes we'll be fused with sec b, though."
And then I heard their irritating shouts of glee.
I pouted.
I bet they're now fantasizing about Ryle being their classmates for a week. Tsk. This is why its hard to admire someone as good looking as Ryle. Many damn competitors. Now tell me how to confess.
I covered both my ears when I saw June approaching my way. I see pure excitement in her eyes. That just means an annoyingly noisy June.
June is my childhood best friend. Aside from the fact that she's my cousin. We are the only girls in the group, so eventually we'd wade our friendship through. Though our friendship seems to be questioned by others a lot. I'm prim and proper and June's obviously like a street person.
It's like ice and fire with us. But like June says, science made way to create dry us.
"Oh my! Keila... are you thinking about what I'm thinking?" I dropped my hands and just started folding my things inside my bag.
"I don't read minds" I said as a matter of fact.
English is done which means mathematics is next. I prepared everything that I need for the class while June carelessly planted herself in a chair beside me.
She ignored my sarcastic remark and pinched my hand because of her slutty excitement. I caressed my poor hands.
I rolled my eyes at her and irritatingly pushed her. "Will you stop shrieking? And your pinch damn hurts!"
She pouted at me sweetly and giggled again. "Keila! We are section A... my crush and yours is in section B! Ahhh!"
I sighed hearing her loud screech. I guess she's really meant to be that loud. Maybe its her calling. I just gave her my poker face and opened a book that I'm currently reading.
June was used to my ignoring stances so he continued talking about how she's anticipating a progressive relationship with her crush from section b. She was also hopeful that I'd finally have more chance to express whatever I feel about Ryle. That I doubt if it happens.
These girls are hoarding their minds with too much fantasies! It will just be a week and they think like we'll be classmates forever. Tch. Though, I can also hear the guys talking about how they must come up of plans to get their girls. Which is really disgusting. I mean, duh!
"I want us to meet each other later this afternoon." June said. But before I could ever respond, our math teacher came.
"Good afternoon, class" the ever strict and inconsiderate, Ms. Lyan. She's already old so her attitude is a bit understandable.
Though with the subject that she handle, it is a bit of a conflict. She always finds a way to insist competence in class, but not everyone is gifted with the same skills with her. Mathematics is a subject that needs great focus and comprehension, and a terror teacher is very good damn pressure.
Not that, I find the subject hard, but because I see almost all of my classmates struggle in this class. Because I aside from the bitchy content of this subject, the teacher is also a martyr in teaching. She's supposed to make our lives better not the other way around.
I saw all of my classmates rapidly went into their right places, including June, scared of the terror Ms. Lyan.
"I want everyone to get one whole sheet of paper. We'll be having a recorded pre-test."
All of my classmates gasped with her unannounced quiz. I cursed in my head. Tsk. Here she goes again. I saw how June looked at me pleadingly. This girl did not advance study.
'Help' she mouthed. She is actually sitting in the very front chair because of her very talkative mouth. Now she's too far away from me to get my help. I'm sorry, June.
I just stuck my tongue out at her and continued to prepare myself for the exam. Good thing I studied in advance. I told June about studying in advance buts she was just always the 'What's the use of going to school to learn when I have to study in the house to?'
Now, let's see your gravity false June.
"I don't know why Ms. Lyan's mood is always sour. She seems to be obsessed with surprise quizzes." I heard Diane, my seatmate complained.
I just chuckled silently. She looked at me and gave me that 'please' look. And I gave her a 'no, no' face as a respond. She pouted at that.
I am not very friendly, but I am also not rude. Though, you can say I pick my friends but that's something people should learn about. You don't just hoard people to be your friend. You must pick and choose the true ones.
In school, I only have few, and almost all are my classmates. Diane, Megan, Bria, and Amari. Amari is my only guy friend in school. Aside from he's smart, he is equally handsome and neat. Which means he pass the standard to be part of my circle. The three girls, they're all pleasant to see and to be with, but we don't really go out together. Just little talk and discuss in school and that's it. Nothing more.
"I did not study last night because she never informed us about it. Urgh" I felt the frustration in Diane's voice. Megan and Bria are out today because they're part of the student's council and they have to meet about the on going changes of set up in the school.
Amari on the other hand, is just busy cutting noises by listening music in his earphones.
I gave Diane a smug look. "Not everything has to be told. Figure things out by yourself."
We haven't received our score for the quiz but I know everyone knew their initial scores based on Ms. Lyan's discussion after. Ms. Lyan is just overly strict, I mean is it right to surprise a recorded quiz to students, I mean, people in my section are quiet competitive you know, except for June. She just resort to regretting everything afterwards.
Diane just pouted and harshly slammed her head on her arm chair and stayed that way. I saw June walking helplessly towards me. So different from how she approached after the English class. I told her to study.
"Do we students have the power to choose who we want to be our teacher for specific subjects?" June asked desperately.
I saw all the responsive faces to June's loud question.
"I hope we have."
"I suddenly want to suggest that to the principal"
"Math sucks but the Math teacher sucks more"
The last remark made me stop. How could he disrespect an elder like that? I looked at the guy, Vin, who said that and glared at him.
"Stop being disrespectful" I said coldly, trying to wake up some conscience in him.
Vin gave me a mocking look and just ignored me afterwards.
"Asshole" I whispered.
June slapped my shoulder softly. "Can you please just let them be. You'll end up being the loser." she scolded me.
I have done that talking-back thing to all those people who doesn't seem to have a little bit of decency for themselves. They seem to forgot to claim their dignity. I hate it so much. Because no matter how the situation is downgrading you, you must never find a reason to push yourself to be the one worsening the situation.
That's just purely dumb.
"And? I don't want to live like a shy dog who will act like nothing wrong happened. I love peace, but I don't trade my dignity for it."
Diane rose from her sleeping position. "You know Keila, its not like he is your problem. Let him be. Maybe you should realize that you're initiating your perspective too much. You're not involved in there, anyway."
I clenched my jaw in annoyance. "Yeah, like what you're doing right now?"
I looked at her sarcastically, she looked away. Maybe she realized it.
"Don't tell me about that damn, Diane. And I'm not just saucing my self in the situation, I was just trying to give him a piece of advice. That's different. He has to realize his mistake. I don't force myself into anything"
I noticed how all my classmates looked at me judgingly. Like what always happen. Tsk.
After I told that, I went out of the room sophisticatedly. It was already five in the afternoon and its time to go home. I did not like how they all thought that I was just seeking for their attention. What are they, gold?
I can entertain myself.
