I watch as Raffy processes what I just told her.
Her eyes flicker with emotions ranging from surprise, bewilderment, anger, and more. As I watch, I tamp down the feeling of disappointment that overwhelmed me. This is not exactly what I have in mind when I imagine what would happen should Raffy and I finally meet again.
Why does she look so angry with me when she finally realizes who I really am?
I don't get it.
I thought she'd be happy to see me after all those years. The same way that I'm happy to see her after eleven years of trying to wrestle my way through those who opposed me in becoming the Emperor of Constanz.
There were more than a couple of times when I thought I just want to pack up and leave Constanz to fend for itself.
