When Cam stepped off the airplane, there were two State Department agents waiting to meet her, and they insisted that she ride in the wheelchair out of the terminal to the car that was waiting. Cameron finally settled on the compromise that she’d ride one of the terminal shuttle carts rather than the wheelchair.
But when they got to the end of the concourse, there was a crowd of people waiting to greet her. Both Kevin and Ben had brought their friends, along with “Welcome Home, Cameron” signs and balloons. At first Cam shrank back from all the attention. It was hard for her to be with so many people all at the same time. The crowd was very unnerving.
