Sitting in the head surgeon’s office, Lori looked out the window at the beautiful grounds surrounding the military hospital. She’d expected the hospital to be closer to the city. She’d also thought she’d be able to see the Capitol or at least the Washington Monument. That hadn’t happened.
She had asked to talk with the surgeon to try to clarify some of what he had told her yesterday. David had given her a list of questions to ask. When the doctor had spoken with her yesterday, she had been too much in shock to digest what he had been saying. She still wasn’t sure she could understand all he would tell her, but she had to have more answers.
