Samson's POV
Inhaling a deep breath, I let it out slowly in an attempt to calm the torrent of emotions flowing
through me as I watch the man beside me speak. Blonde hair a complete contrast to mine
framining his rugged facial features, a scar lining his left chin as his grey eyes stare at the pack
members.
A frown grows on my face as I observe the expression of everyone else in the hall, their gazes
filling with admiration while they listen.
Alpha Drew, the leader of the Ravencrest pack, is currently holding a meeting with the pack
executives, elders and warriors. I should feel honored and proud to have him as a father,
however all I can feel is resentment.
Dressed in black slacks and a matching long sleeved shirt, my Rolex is visible on my wrist as I
tap my forefinger rhythmically on my thigh, an action that distracts me from my environment.
Time flies as my brain is filled with strategies to help better my financial company. I don't know
how long I zone out for until Hughes my bestfriend nudges me.
Lifting a brow, my bright blue eyes hold a silent question as I fix my gaze on his bulky form. He's
taller than me by an inch and clad in a blue vest and brown slacks.
'The meeting has ended,' he says through the mind-link.
I follow his line of vision to see my father having a conversation with Silas, the pack healer. They
both have serious expressions on their faces and I wonder if it has anything to with the rumors
going around about some witches.
Thinking nothing of it, I nod at Hughes, about to rise from my sitting position when the
discussion between the two abruptly comes to an end.
"Remain seated," my father declares in that commanding voice all Alpha's have, I included.
Silence reigns once again, the hum of voices amongst the other pack members coming to a
stop while everyone adjusts their position, ready to hear what next he has to say.
I grit my teeth tightly in irritation, my right fingers forming a fist on my thigh in irritation as I resist
the urge to mutter something inappropriate, or worse, walk out of the hall without a care in the
world.
"We have a problem," he proclaims and expressions of horror takes possession of the faces of
the executives. "I'm certain every of you have heard about the witches making their way into
shifter packs."
Murmuring begins further at his words. Hughes and I exchange a look of wonder and realization
hence it appears we had the same thought.
"Silence!" Alpha Drew cautions and everyone obeyes.
"During a brief discussion with Healer Silas barely moments ago, it is apparent they come with
wicked intentions," he continues, making sure his gaze examines every face in the hall, when it
reaches me, I divert my vision to the watch on my wrist.
"These coven of witches are said to call themselves the BellaDonna Coven," he informs, his
tone severe as his eyes flash with something likely to be anger, one I have seen thousands of
times while growing up as his son.
"Five deaths have been recorded so far," he announces and a chill runs through the
atmosphere, the gravity of what is being said filling our minds.
"Yes," he answers to the silent question no one dares to ask. "Healer Silas who has been
actively communicating with his cronies in the other packs disclosed that information."
"Shifters?" Dean one of the elders of our pack asks.
"Yes," my father says in affirmation. "All five of them."
"These witches are actively traveling around our kingdom, wreaking havoc in packs and—"
The silence is shattered for possibly the third time as a few people try to speak at once, some
with hands raised, others simply trying to be heard.
"You," he nods at Jarred, one of the leading guards of the pack.
"What do you suggest we should do Alpha?" Jarred implores, not missing out on the title of
respect.
"The only thing we can do," my father says gruffly. "Strengthening of the security at the pack
borders. Border patrols should be increased and manpower doubled."
"Noted Alpha," Jarred nods in understanding and returns to his seat.
"Mind you, the members of this coven are able to disguise their identities," he reveals and a
hush falls over the crowd as we all consider this. "The aim of this is simple, to decieve and earn
trust of those seeking them."
"If such is the case," I finally speak, my voice as loud and commanding as that of my father.
"How do we identify them?"
His eyes meet mine and I watch them narrow in my path before he directs his face back at the
executives. "I was getting to that."
'You sure were taking your sweet time,' my wolf Albert grunts in my head and a faint smile
appears on my lips as I say, "okay father."
He doesn't spare me a glance and instead goes on to notify, "each witch has a symbol of a
pentagram on the back of their upper thigh."
"That is a difficult spot to catch sight of," I murmur, more to myself than to the hearing of others.
"Exactly," Hughes blurts, a finger scratching his chin in thought.
We need to be on high alert," father warns, and everyone except for me nods. "If not, they will
gain access into our pack simply like the others already infiltrated."
A series of words are heard in agreement from the congregation but he isn't done with his
narration. "Healer Silas also informed me about an Alpha who got seduced by a witch."
Gasps of shock and grumbling rise at that revelation as my eyes widen. For a second I
contemplate if his words are true or if he is exaggerating for emphasis.
'It won't be the first time,' my wolf rumbles at my line of thought. I don't contest his utterance,
beHcause we both know the Alpha more than anyone in the room.
"Again, be on guard everyone," he says in a conclusive tone. "It is now your duty and not only
those of the warriors and guards to protect our pack."
We all stand and wait as he pushes back
his chair and steps away from the table. We direct our
stares to the floor in sign of reverence as his feet meet the ground and he walks out of the hall.
