Chapter 3: Intent

“your parents were killed? For what?” Izzy asks confused. They all are sitting at the table. both her and her mother sitting on either side of Kane. “I'm not sure grandfather would not tell me. But I have a suspicion.” he said looking at his hands which were now on the table intertwined. “your not just ghoul are you?” her mother asked with a softness in her voice. Both of them looked at her with surprise Kane more than Izzy. “ you knew as soon as I stepped on that porch didn't you.” he asked looking back down at his hands again. She put a reassuring hand on his shoulder making him look back at her. “I knew before you even got close. I may be old but my nose still is as sharp as it has ever been.” she replied with a small smile.

Kane felt the pull of the moon as he sat there listening to Cail. They both noticed Kane's facial expression change. “do you know how to control the beast?” Izzy asked in a concerned tone looking into his eyes. He looked at her returning the concerned tone “I can but I'm still bound to the moon. I need to get outside.” they all went out and Kane felt the change starting as he looked to the girls. They had already shifted ready to assist him if he needed. He was fighting the change as he had always had. “stop fighting it” he heard a voice call to him. He looked over to see Cail looking at him as a wolf. “ if you fight it it could kill you. Go with the pain.” she instructed him. He followed what she said and closed his eyes and when he opened them again he was a wolf.

By the time he stood up both Izzy and cail were standing side by side in front of him waiting. He stood up, finding that he was as tall as Izzy but her mother was shorter than both of them. “Why are you so small?” he asked the wolf that he thought was Izzy. “I'm over here, that's my mom.” Izzy said. Kane looked at them both in awe. Izzy was a jet black wolf and her mother was blond almost white in color. When he noticed their color he looked at his own. His dark brown color was a shock to him since his own hair color is a reddish brown. “you two out size me.” cail said with a chuffing laugh.

" I say we go on a run" Izzy says as she drops to all fours and faces the woods. " you two go on ahead I will make sure our food stays warm and doesn't burn." Cail says now back in human form. as she headed inside Kane and Isabell ran off through the woods chasing anything that crossed their path.
