12 Dr. Hearon was giving President Rood a routine examination when he noticed a small purplish spot, resembling a blood blister on his back. He probed the area with his fingers. “How long have you had the growth on your back?” he asked. “What growth?” Adam grimaced and pushed down on it. “Does it hurt?” “No. What do you think it is?” “I don’t know. How have you been feeling?” “Okay, I guess. To tell the truth, Adam, the last two years I’ve been feeling tired and always a little sick to my stomach. And I get a little diarrhea on and off.” Dr. Hearon peered over his half-moon reading glasses. “Why haven’t you told me?” “I didn’t think it was important. I chalked it up to stress. Also, since you check me regularly I figured if there was something wrong you’d be the first to find it.
