JADE’S POV
It’s been a few days since Blaze released the story about how Everett abused me. At first, it was really hard to deal with all the comments; mostly, they were good, but I did get a few that said I deserved what Everett did. Zander told me to stop reading them and focus on other things. I know he’s right, but it’s so hard to do when it’s all about me. I don’t think he understands.
I would sneak a look and get depressed, and finally, he had Lincoln block them on all my devices. I understand his frustration; it was making me depressed and anxious. But it shouldn’t have been my choice. When we go out in public, people stare. They don’t say anything because they are afraid of what Zander might do or say. Maybe I made a mistake. Why does this have to be so hard?
Zander looks down at me with those deep blue eyes with a frown on his face. “Jade,” he says calmly. As he reaches out to hold my hand, “You’re anxious and depressed from reading comments with words that should not even matter to you. You don’t even know these people,” Zander points out. “Besides, no matter what happened, some people will always twist the truth.” He’s right, and I know it. But it’s so hard and even harder to admit that what he’s saying is the truth. It shouldn’t matter to me, but it does.
Think about this. Did you ever for a minute think that maybe just maybe that Sharron is behind some of it? Or even Everett? Sharron had a big following with her always on the front cover with me. Maybe she set it up because supposedly you took something that belongs to her. People still don’t know the whole truth. And then there is Everett; don’t think for a minute he is just going to take this lying down. He is going to try to make you pay for the decision you made to leave him.
Honestly, no I say in a whisper. Jade, you are doing exactly what they wanted you to do. I know you think I don’t understand, but I do. Sharron pulled this stuff on me so many times, I wondered why we were still engaged.
Jade, you were never a stand-in for Sharron. I chose you over Sharron, never regretting it for a minute.
Zander had this megawatt smile that he only shows on rare occasions, making you weak at the knees. Zander is just a gorgeous man to look at. I could get lost in his eyes alone.
Honestly, I understand why women throw themselves at him. Even I want to throw myself at him. I wonder what it would feel like to have him kiss me as my cheeks started to turn light pink. Zander has this amused smirk on his face, “sighing,” he would never want someone like me.
Well, at least for the time being, I’m his wife.
Let’s go, Zander says casually, we still have a house that we need to finish setting up. What about work? I know you’re a busy man. Zander chuckles, that’s why I have Lincoln, Zander says with a smirk on his face. Blushing, come on, let’s go.
We ended up in this fancy retail store that has everything you would need for a house. We were there for like three hours picking out the final things for the house. Zander wanted to go overboard. I had to laugh at a few items he picked out. Items we would never even use. I had the guy put them back. Zander saw, of course, and pouted. I just laughed. Zander, we will never use them unless you plan on sleeping in the guest bedroom with them! He frowns, which makes me laugh harder. You still want them, I said playfully? No, they can keep, he says sulking, with a smirk on his face. Everything was going great until the wicked witch of the east showed up. Zander, Sharron says in this sweet, sugary voice, one that makes you feel like you ate too much sugar all at once. A few minutes later, Everett walks in. You, he says pointing at me. How dare you show your face in front of me after everything you did to me? My face went pale, I started backing up till I hit a wall, well that’s at least what I thought it was till his arms snaked around my waist pulling me closer to him. Zander whispered in my ear, don’t be afraid I got you, for the first time in a long time I felt safe.
Zander laughed, “Who’s following who? I believe we were here first. Greg, yes, Mr. Walker? Have everything sent to my residence. Yes, Mr. Walker, right away. It will be there within the hour. Great!! Jade, let’s go. He grabs my hand lightly and pulls me towards the exit.
Everett blocks the exit. “When did I ever say you can leave?”
Zander!! Why did you tear down the house? Zander chuckled. It was my house. I had the right to do what I wanted with it. It was our house! No! It’s stopped being our house when you decided to cheat. Zander!!
Move! Zander says to Everett. Why should I? Have it your way. A few minutes later, Lincoln walks in with eight of Zander’s bodyguards. Mr st James, we meet again.”
Everett flinches slightly. “Stay out of this, Lincoln. This does not concern you.” Lincoln laughs. “You are bothering Mr. and Mrs. Walker, and you say it does not concern me. Everett!! Stop this. You got what you wanted. You got Sharron. We both have moved on. So what is the problem? Feisty! Now that you have them protecting you.”
Zander! How could you trade me for that? She says, pointing at me.
Zander, I…I never meant to drag… stop, he says as he cups my cheeks. You are worth more than a thousand of Sharron’s. A tear slips down my cheeks. Zander wipes it away with his thumb. “Jade, they can only hurt you if you let them. I’m right beside you. I have you. Don’t let them belittle you. You are worth way more than they ever will be.” As Zander pulls me into a hug.
I take a deep breath and turn around. Zander slides his hand into mine and gives it a little squeeze.
Sharron grits her teeth and clinches her fists. You’re joking, right, Zander?
Ms. Russell, you gave up your right to my husband the day you cheated. Now live with the consequences. It’s not like you were ever in love with Zander; you were just using him for the money. “How did she know that?” No, I loved Zander. Who are you trying to convince me or yourself, Ms. Russell? Because from where I stand, if you truly loved him, then you wouldn’t have cheated. Zander had a big, giant grin on his face.
As for you, Everett, you think by bullying me, hurting me, that makes you a man. How pathetic, I chuckle. In reality, it makes you look weak. You’re like a toddler that doesn’t know how to use their words. Everett was stunned; he stood there with his mouth wide open like he had something to say but the words wouldn’t quite come out. NOW MOVE!! I’m done with all your BS! And if you don’t want to move, these bodyguards won’t have a problem helping you.
Everett moved to the side and let us pass. This is not over, Jade. It is for today, I scoff, walking out the door with Zander.
That was awesome! Jade. Zander finally found the perfect person to stand by his side. My cheeks turned bright red. Thanks, Link, that means a lot coming from you. I didn’t know at that moment I had even made an impression on Zander’s bodyguards; vowed to do anything and everything in their power to protect me. My love and loyalty to Zander were evident, but I didn’t realize it at the time. I was still grappling with my own feelings. They sensed what I was too afraid to admit.
