Chapter Two

1804 Words
Jade’s POV I don’t understand why Everett keeps hurting me. What am I doing wrong? I can’t take this anymore. I need to get away from him. He’s going to kill me if I continue to stay here with him. I know he doesn’t love me. All he desires is Sharron. I can even comprehend his desire for her; she’s stunning. She stands at 5’9”, slender, and possesses curves in all the right places. Her long, red, wavy hair and piercing green emerald eyes make her mesmerizing. Honestly, I don’t understand why he keeps me here. Why not just let me go? I need to leave this place soon. Thomas keeps telling me I need to leave. Well, tonight I am going to do just that. There’s nothing I need to pack because I don’t want anything that Everett ever gave me. I have some money saved up. So I should be good for a while. * * Everett’s POV * * Sir, yes Thomas? A Ms. Sharron Russell is on the phone for you. Thank you Thomas. I will take it in the study. Hello? Hi Everett, it’s me Sharron. How are you Sharron? I’m good. I was hoping you would have a drink with me. That would be great! Where would you like to meet? That little pub on West Eighth Street. Around seven is that good for you? That’s great!! I’ll see you there. Hanging up the phone. Finally, rushing to my room to get ready. Thomas, I am leaving now. Tell Jade I will see her when I get back. Yes Sir, have a pleasant evening. Thank you Thomas, grabbing my keys and heading out the door. * * * * Jade’s POV * * Ms. Jade, yes, Thomas. Master Everett told me to tell you he will see you tonight when he gets home. Thank you, Thomas, but I don’t think I will be here when he gets back. You finally decided to take my advice and run. Yes, I just don’t know where to go. I would advise you to go stay at the Walker hotel. Master Everett will never look for you there. Why? Because Master Everett hates Master Walker. I’ll keep that in mind, Thomas. Be safe, Ms. Jade. It was a pleasure knowing you. As he pulls out some money from his pocket, handing it to me. Thomas, you don’t need to do this. Yes, I do, Ms. Jade. Now hurry. Thank you, Thomas, kissing him on the cheek. Hurry, Ms. Jade. You never know with Master Everett. Ms. Jade, don’t forget to take the tracker off your car. It’s by the driver’s side front wheel. Thanks! Thomas. I ran out of the house, to my car, grabbing the tracker off my car, then dropping it on the driveway. I get in my car and drive away. I decided to do what Thomas told me and go to the Walker hotel. As I was driving past West Eight Street, I see Everett walking out of the pub with Sharron. I know he hasn’t seen me because it’s dark, and he can’t seem to take his eyes off Sharron. I watch as they both get into Everett’s car and go down the street to the Hilton hotel. I continue to drive towards the Walker hotel, parking my car. I get out of my car shaking, hoping he won’t find out I left. Walking into the lobby, I walk straight into someone. I would have never believed it would be Mr. Walker himself. Are you okay, Ms. I…I? I’m fine as I wipe the tears off my cheeks. I don’t think you are. Wait, I know you, your Everett’s girlfriend. I laugh. He gives me this look. Mr. Walker, I’m not Everett’s girlfriend, I’m his punching bag. The girl he wants is your fiancé! Who, right now at this very moment, is with him at the Hilton hotel? What are you talking about? asks Zander. As I said, just stated, they are both at the Hilton hotel together. I watched them come out of the pub on West Eight Street. Zander pulls me out of the hotel. His car pulls up as we walk out. Zander opens the door and gets in. Why? GET IN! Frightened, I get in the car. Zander walks around getting in the driver’s seat. Call Lincoln. He picks up on the third ring. Yes, boss. I need you to track Sharrons’ phone. Yes, boss, right away. Sharron right now can be located at the Hilton hotel room 706. I want you to send someone up to the room to see who is with her. That should be easy. Veronica is working tonight. Thanks, let me know what you find out. Yes, sir. Speeding out of the parking lot, we go straight to the Hilton hotel. He parks where no one can see us, but he’s looking straight up to the room they are in. He watches as Sharron comes out on the balcony. A few minutes later, Everett comes walking out behind her. He pulls her into his arms and starts to kiss her. I think I’m going to be sick, so I cover my mouth. I open the door and run to the bushes and throw up. Zander gets out and walks behind me and gently pulls my hair back. How… why… Zander hands me a bottle of water that I didn’t know he had. I rinse my mouth out and stutter a thank you to him. We could hear Sharron and Everett laughing. We both watch as Everett pulls Sharron back into the room, closing the balcony door. * * * Zander’s POV I can’t believe Sharron would do this to me. Yes, I can, but s**t, did it have to be with Everett? I look at the beautiful woman standing next to me as we watch Everett close the balcony door. I don’t see how Everett could abuse her and hurt her like this. I expected it from Sharron, but with Everett, she knew how much I loathed him. I hold the door and watch as Ms. Lopez gets back in. Closing the door behind her. I walk back over to the driver’s side and climb back in. I look at the beautiful woman sitting next to me, and I feel for her. Before I know it, I’m blurting out, “ I have a proposition for you, Ms. Lopez. What would that be, Mr. Walker?” I propose we get married tonight. I can give you everything you ever wanted or needed. And all you have to do is act like the loving wife in public. At home, we have our own rooms. Our own lives. But in public, you will be Mrs. Walker. The contract is for three years. After that, I will give you a divorce and make sure you are taken care of for the rest of your life. She looks at me like I lost my mind. I can have a contract drawn up right now if you agree. It will be waiting for us when we arrive. What do you say, Ms. Lopez? She looks at me, then shrugs her shoulders. She ponders my request for a few minutes, sighing. What do I have to lose? I’ll marry you as long as you don’t lay your hands on me to hurt me. Ms. Lopez, you offend me. I’m not Everett. I would never hurt a woman. But I do plan to get even with Everett and Sharron. Are you in? Yes, I’m in. Zander starts the car and pulls out of the hotel. He calls Lincoln, yes, boss, I want a contract for myself and Ms. Lopez. The contract will last for three years. Get her everything she will need to be my wife. Make sure she is well taken care of after the three years. Yes, sir, get our marriage license. I will meet you at the courthouse in one hour. Have the marriage license and contract ready when we get there. Get Judge Gilmore to officiate the ceremony. Right away, boss, see you in an hour. Ms. Lopez, we need to get you a dress. And I know the perfect place. We pull up to this little boutique. Zander gets out of the car and walks around, opening the door for me. I look up at the tall but stunning man and wonder how Sharron could be so stupid. We walk into the boutique. A short but slender woman walks up to us. Ah, Zander, it’s good to see you. Ms. Williams, I’m sorry to cut this short, but time is of the essence. What do you need, Zander? I need a wedding dress for my bride-to-be. Right now. She looks at Jade sizing her up. Yes, I think I have the perfect dress for her. The wedding dress was beautiful, opulent brocade appliqués sit atop delicate diamond-patterned tulle which covers the dress from the strapless illusion plunge neckline to the trumpet skirt. I couldn’t take my eyes off it. Jade, let me see. I walk out, and for a minute, Zander was speechless. That is perfect, Ms. Williams. Zander pulls out his card and pays for it. Don’t worry about shoes, no one will be looking at your feet anyway. I have heels for it in my bag. And if you will give me a few minutes in a bathroom when we get there, I can fix my hair and make up. Very well. Says Zander. Thank you, Mr. Walker. Since I am going to be your husband, just call me Zander. Yes, sir, just Zander, there is no need for sir. Zander, may I ask why you’re doing this? Ms. Lopez, it’s a win-win situation for the both of us. I knew Sharron was using me, and you proved it. Please just call me Jade. I need someone I can trust. And be there when I need them. I think you need the same thing. So you see, it’s a win-win situation. I have to say, Jade, you look beautiful. There will be a photographer here to take wedding pictures. Are you okay with that? Yes, that’s perfectly fine. Good because come tomorrow, we will be on the front cover of every magazine. You will be the envy of every woman. Jade, you will be representing the Walker name. Please make sure to act appropriately. That is not an issue, There will be no cheating. That’s fine with me. I will not put you in a situation that you would have cause not to trust me. Hi everyone, I hope you’re enjoying the book. Please share your thoughts or any ideas you have about what should happen next. I’m eagerly looking forward to hearing from you. Thanks, Plindsey
