Chapter eleven

1345 Words
I look up at Zander. I can see the sincerity in his eyes. Sighing, I just wanted to make sure who was ever watching over you… that you connected with that person. I was only thinking of you. I just wanted you to be happy. Jade smiles a genuine, beautiful smile. Thank you, as a tear slips down her cheek. I gently wipe the tear from her face. There’s no need to thank me. You are the first person that has ever thought of me. Who saw me as a person and not a toy for them to abuse, she says so softly, as her cheeks go slightly pink. She was so cute. No one will ever abuse you again. Jade smiles that beautiful smile that just melts my heart. Okay, let’s all go have lunch. Don’t you need to work? It doesn’t matter. I’m going to spend the day with my beautiful wife. Jade blushes a deeper red, grinning. Well, it’s true. Jade smacks my shoulder lightly, “Stop that!” as her face turns bright red. Lincoln, tell Felix he’s on his own today. That we will be out of the office for the rest of the day. On it, where are we going? We are going to take the girls to that new bistro restaurant on the beach. I already called and told them we were coming. Lincoln looked at Zander like he had grown two heads… don’t we… Zander rolled his eyes at Lincoln. Oh, let me call Felix so he knows the plans. Let’s all get in the car while we wait for Lincoln. A few minutes later, Lincoln gets in next to Grace. Let’s go, Jesse pulls out in the traffic. From the distance, Sharron watches the car leave. That little two-timing B…CH how dare she take what’s mine, her fingers digging into her palms. I will get everything back that’s mine. I’m, Everett doesn’t hold a candle to Zander’s wealth and power. I will use him to help me win Zander back, while he takes care of that filthy woman. Just when Sharron thought no one saw her, or could hear her little rant, Felix did. He heard everything. He secretly videotaped it and sent it straight to Zander and Lincoln. The afternoon was going great. The girls seemed to be having a lot of fun. Well, at least I thought they were. The girls got along great. Jade was still holding back. She was still really guarded. You could see it in her facial expression. Sighing, Jade said, “Let’s take a walk.” Jade takes my hand, and we start to walk down the beach. It’s peaceful. The waves crash upon the shore, children playing, families laughing. It was calming. Looking at Jade, she was anything but calm. Jade, what’s wrong? I stop her from turning away, forcing her to look directly at me. Her eyes looking everywhere else, Jade, please look at me, I say softly. She hesitates for a moment, then finally looks directly into my eyes. Please tell me what’s wrong. Do you not like it here? No… no, that’s not it at all. Then what’s going on in that mind of yours? I…I was really hoping Grace and I could be friends. Jade, you can be friends. How? I’ll be her boss! Yes, that’s true. Grace does have a job to fulfill. How would that even work, she sighs. Let me explain something to you. Most people don’t know. Lincoln’s been my best friend since we were children. Most think he’s my assistant, besides being my best friend, he’s also my business partner. Honestly I couldn’t do half of the things I do without him. He makes things easier for me. And to be honest, that’s not an easy task. I’m very demanding. I expect perfection or close to it. But he keeps me from spiraling out of control. More like he keeps me grounded. Otherwise, over half of the Walker Employees would have already been fired. Jade giggles, giving her a lopsided grin. It’s true; ask Lincoln yourself. I detest incompetent employees. I didn’t know that. Most people don’t. I’ve had numerous businesses trying to attempt to steal Lincoln. He’s that skilled at his job. But my point is, you can build that kind of relationship with Grace. The relationship between you and Grace can be whatever you want it to be, as long as she does her job. Your protection is all that matters to me. You can go shopping, do whatever you want, as long as she fulfills her duty to protect you. The less people know that she’s there to protect you, the better. I don’t want to make it obvious. Really? Yes, I’m also going to have her teach you self-defense. Jade smirks, “Oh, okay, sure.” Zander didn’t notice the subtle change in Jade’s face. The rest of the day was easy, fun, and full of laughter. How about dinner? Lincoln, we just ate like four hours ago. I know, don’t you think that’s it’s been way too long? You’re like a bottomless pit. Lincoln grins while everyone else starts to laugh. Well, I’m still growing, where in your big toe? I always wondered why it was so big, I say with a lopsided grin. The girls tried to hold a straight face, it only lasted a few seconds till they both burst out laughing. Lincoln pouted, “Fine, let’s go eat!” I say rolling my eyes. Jade’s POV We went back to the bistro, where there was a private room already waiting for us. When we got there, the table was already filled with pasta, barbecue ribs, steak, vegetables, noodles, chicken, sautéed mushrooms, and a few other dishes, ones that we all liked. Comfort foods. Nothing fancy. I was impressed. A billionaire eating comfort foods, who would have thought? I watched him and Lincoln for a few minutes. I thought it might be all an act. I was so wrong; they devoured the food like they had been starving for a decade. I just shook my head as Zander started filling my plate. Zander, how many people am I eating for? He laughed when he looked at all the food he had added to my plate. Dig in! Or Link and I will eat it all for you, he said, grinning. Dinner was going great, until they happened. The door slammed open, and in walked Sharron. Not far behind was Everett. GET OUT! Zander, don’t act like that. You know you miss me. Zander lets out a low chuckle. Sharron, you’ve made your choice, and I’ve made mine. I’m married. There’s no US anymore. Take you and your boy toy and leave NOW! While Zander was dealing with Sharron, Everett inched closer to Jade. Grace stood up, blocking his way. You can stop there. Get out of my way. Everett raised his hand to hit Grace, but Lincoln stepped in his way. Zander realized what was happening and pulled Jade behind him. Just when I was about to call the bodyguards to remove them from the room, Blaze walks in. Mr. St. James and Ms. Russell, we meet again. Zander looks at Lincoln, and he just grins, Mr St.James’s you beat Jade. You said she’s not good enough for you, yet here you are trying to take away a married woman you discarded. Care to explain? Mr. Evans, this does not concern you. Ms. Russell, you discarded Mr. Walker and cheated on him. I DIDN’T CHEAT!! I have the evidence that you did. In fact, it was even with Mr. St. James. Care to comment? They both looked at Blaze stunned. How does he know? Sharron mumbles. Sharron, Mr. Walker is married, and he’s not married to you. He even went as far as to marry Mr. St. James’s ex-girlfriend. So it wasn’t hard to figure out that something happened. Then someone emailed me the video of you and Mr. St. James at the hotel, so do either of you care to comment?
