Chapter Four

1712 Words
Jade’s POV I wake up next to Zander. It takes me a few minutes to remember that he’s my husband. He’s the most handsome man I have ever laid my eyes on. You can tell he works out. His tux fits him perfectly. His black hair is slightly messy, and his piercing blue eyes. He’s tall and handsome. What more could a woman want? I could get lost in those eyes. I didn’t realize while I was checking him out that he was looking at me. Do you see something you like? Blushing, I’m sorry. Why are you sorry we are married? Yes, I know, but it’s a contract marriage. Yes, I know, but I think we should make the most of it, don’t you think? Blushing, yes, if that’s what you want. It is. Where are we going? Smiling, it’s a surprise, beautiful. We will be landing soon. There is a bathroom in the room if you would like to use it. Thank you, she says, blushing. Jade disappears into the room. About twenty minutes later, she comes back seeming much more relaxed. You are so beautiful. You are very handsome, my husband. I never dreamed that those few words could set my heart on fire. Zander, where are we going? Look out the window and see if you can tell me. There in the middle of everything was the Eiffel Tower. W..we’re in P..Paris I stutter. He laughs. Yes, I had to take my wife on an actual honeymoon. I was stunned. He’s still in his tux. I’m still in my wedding gown. And we are in Paris. Tears fall down my cheeks. Jade? As he reaches over and wipes the tears from my face. Why are you crying? No..no one has ever done anything like this for me, I whisper. You are my wife, no matter what the circumstances are. You are Mrs. Walker and will be treated as such. I just figured that..you figured what? That I would marry you, drop you off at home, and forget about you. Ashamed of what I was thinking ..yes, I stutter , that’s what I thought you would do. Jade, look at me. I’m not Everett. I have no desire to hurt you. I married you. You are my wife, and I will treat you as such. Buckle up, we are about to land. We arrived at the villa, and it was beautiful. It’s a two-story building made of white marble with red tiles for the roof. It has trees all around it with a beautiful rose garden. How many rooms are there, Zander? Three. When you walk in, you can see everything: the swimming pool, the chef’s kitchen, the dining room, and the living room. I was surprised that there were no televisions anywhere. There were pictures everywhere. It made Everett’s place look like nothing. I was afraid to touch anything. Come on, as Zander pulled me up the stairs. We walk into this massive bedroom that has a king-size bed in the middle of the room, two dressers, and two nightstands. The room was white, and the floors were like a black-white marble that matched perfectly with the decor. I felt like I was dreaming. He pulled me to the closet and opened it to find all sorts of clothes. The clothes are for you. I thought you might want to take a shower and get changed. Yes, thank you. Once we’re done, lunch is waiting for us downstairs. My room is across the hall if you need me. He thought of everything. I picked out this beautiful light blue summer dress that had lilacs all over the bottom of the dress. With a pair of white sandals. Even the underwear and bras matched. I’m not even going to try to figure out how he knew my sizes. The bathroom was massive. It has a huge bathtub, walk-in shower that has four different shower heads. I couldn’t get the dress off, so I walked over to Zander’s room and knocked on the door. He opened the door in his towel with water dripping down his torso. My cheeks turned a bright red. He laughed, “See something you like?” he teased. I…I was wondering if you could unbutton the dress in the back so I can get it off, I stuttered. “ Yes, of course. Turn around.” His touch was gentle, nothing like Everett’s. He ran his hand down my back. “There you go. Thank…Thank you,” I said, blushing, running back to my room, shutting the door behind me. I could hear him laughing. The week we spent in Paris was amazing. We went to the museums, the Eiffel Tower, and walked along the streets checking out the little shops. Zander went into a jewelry shop and bought me the most beautiful wedding ring. It was white gold with these three blue diamonds. It was really simple, but I loved it. I worry that I’m too simple for him. Zander bought a few gifts for his family. I looked at a few things, but when I saw the price, I put them back. Zander questioned me about them, and I told him I was only looking. I’m not sure he bought it, but he didn’t say anything either. We went to the local restaurants, which were great, but I couldn’t wait for a home-cooked meal. Zander told me we were leaving tomorrow, and I was glad to be going home. Paris was great, but home was better. And I know Zander needed to get back to work. When we got back to the villa that night, we were almost packed already. Pick out what you would like to wear tomorrow so they can pack the rest, Zander tells me. I picked out a light grey pant suit with a green shirt and matching heels. Nothing fancy but dressy enough. I woke up early, took my shower, and got dressed. I put on light makeup and I put my hair up in a messy bun. I walked down stairs, and Zander was already there drinking coffee in a dark grey suit with a light blue dress shirt. He was gorgeous. I sat down next to him, and they served us breakfast. We ate in silence. Not long after, we left for the airport. Which was a pleasant but peaceful drive to the airport. We boarded the plane. We took our seats, and a few minutes later, we were on our way back home. I sat there fidgeting with my wedding ring, and Zander gently put his hand over mine. Everything is going to be fine, Jade. I won’t let anybody hurt you. I promise. I always keep my promises. No matter what. We returned early in the evening, and I expected the paparazzi to be there, but to my surprise, only Lincoln was there. Lincoln went over business with Zander, while we were driving to who knows where. I looked out the window, watching everything pass by. Until Zander asked the one question I was waiting for: How did Sharron and Everett take the news? How do you think Sharron took it? laughed Lincoln. Would you like your phone back to hear? Zander chuckled. Sure, give it here. He played message after message with Sharron screaming and yelling. Lincoln looked at Jade, “ I don’t want you to feel left out,” and handed me my phone. Jade looked puzzled, “How did you get this?” Lincoln laughed, “Everett’s butler, Thomas, gave it to me. Don’t worry, the phone can’t be tracked. I took care of it when Thomas gave it to me.” There were sixty-three messages, each one worse than the last. Zander chuckled, “I see they took it well.” Zander, I can tell you now if Everett gets a hold of your wife, he will hurt her. Did you finish everything I asked? Yes, down to the last detail. Good, let the games begin. We pulled up to a gated fence that had a guard shack and four guards. With two guards walking around the area with dogs. They opened the gate, and we drove up a hill to a one-story bungalow. It was a charming property with a few additional bungalows scattered around, none of which were close to one another. Each bungalow had its own private area. Zander opens the door and picks me up, carrying me inside the house. It was empty. There were wedding pictures on the wall, but the rest of the bungalow was open concept. The kitchen was huge, with a large island in the middle. It had everything it needed; there were boxes all over the place. Nothing had been unpacked; everything was new. I looked at Zander, puzzled. He sighed, “This is our home, Jade, and I want you to fix it the way you want it.” Zander… if it’s our home, shouldn’t we do this together? Lincoln’s mouth dropped open, never expecting that response from Jade. “Is that what you want? For us to do it together? Yes, don’t you want that?” Yes, but not all women want input from their husbands. Well, I do. I want it to be our home. When do we start? Jade has a huge smile on her face. “Would tomorrow be okay?” Yes, that would be great, but we still have to go to the office first. But for tonight, let’s stay at the hotel. Why can’t we stay here? Are you sure? Yes, why not? I can make dinner. Theirs are blankets and pillows; I’m sure we could handle it for one night. That would be great. Lincoln, send a car for us in the morning; we will be staying here. Sure, I’ll see you both in the morning. Thank you, Lincoln. Anytime, Mrs. Walker. Just called me, Jade. Mrs. Walker seems so formal. Of course, Lincoln walks out the door smiling, for the first time in a long while. Hi everyone, Make sure to drop a line or two on how you are enjoying the story.
