MEETING HIM

When we came in the hall was almost full. The hall was beautifully decorated.

Flowers of every kind, balloons hanging from the ceiling with cards saying “happy spring”, there are snack tables set up in the far left corner with a punch table. A professional DJ is setting up on stage, and everyone here really went all out with dressing up.

“you are by far the most beautiful girl here.” Andy whispered into my ear. I blushed and looked at him, “you don’t clean up bad yourself.” I said couldn’t help but stare as his jacket stretching perfectly over his muscles.

“you keep looking at me like that and we won’t know how the dance ends.” Andy said and smirked at me. I turned my head away and stared at the people coming in.

When I saw Tommy coming in I averted my eyes looking at the DJ.

Tommy is one of the most popular guys in school being the captain of the football team and he has never before paid me attention until this morning.

I heard a low whistle and looked over my shoulder I wasn’t the only one who heard because Andy looked too.

Tommy was making his way over here and I just hope this doesn’t start a fight. I could see the way he was looking at me and he was practically undressing me with his eyes. ‘great I’m ganna be sick’ I though as he stopped in front of me with Dominique hanging off his arm in a too short, too tight blue dress.

“well, well, well and who is this?” Tommy asked and is still looking at me lustfully.

“aren’t you with what’s her name uhm… ohh yah Anna Lane?” Dominique said and looked at me. I guess they have never seen me dressed up before and they cannot see my eyes because where we are standing it’s a bit dark.

“yes I am with Anna, and you are looking at her Dominique.” Andy said with so much distaste that it made me shiver.

“no way, I saw Anna this morning and she is nowhere near this hot.” Tommy said and I just glared at him.

“I’m ganna get a drink.” I told Andy and walked past a shocked Dominique.

When I returned Andy looked kind of mad, so I asked him what happened and he just said, “you got in the car with Tommy and forgot to mention it?” I stared at Andy dumbstrucked.

“I… I didn’t. I walked to school and took a shortcut through the woods.” I said and I can’t believe I have to defend myself or that Andy would believe something like that. I looked up at him and he was just staring at me.

“you know what, believe what you want, but if I got into his car I would have come from the parking lot and not the back of the school.” I said and walked off.

I was searching for Jessy and Andrew, but couldn’t find them anywhere so I stepped out for some fresh air.

I’m standing in the parking lot watching as people are still arriving. ‘why would he believe Tommy over me?’ I thought as I felt my eyes start to tear. I shook my head and blinked the tears away, ‘I came here for Andy, but now I’m here to have some fun. And fun I will have.’

I walked back in and the music was blasting I’ve never been in a club, but this is pretty close to one. The only thing we are missing is the alcohol. I thought as I walked onto the dance floor moving my body to the rhythm of the music.

I felt someone dance behind me holding me around the waist and moved with me. I didn’t bother opening my eyes because I know it’s not Andy.

“red is my personal favourite colour on you as if from today.” A manly voice said and I didn’t recognise it. Afraid that the person would go away I didn’t say anything and just kept dancing.

When the song ended the guy let me go and when I spun around there was no one there. I saw Andy staring daggers at me and walked over to him. Maybe he saw whom I was dancing with.

“so you run off and now you dance with another guy?”

“this has got to stop. I was dancing alone and then some guy came up from behind me, I didn’t even get a look at his face.” I said and threw my hands in the air.

“what is really bothering you Andy?” I asked him directly. It can’t just be about what Tommy said and it’s definitely not about the guy I danced with.

“I just don’t like how the guys here are looking at you, it’s like you are their next meal or something.” Any said and everything made sense.

“you are jealous.” I said and couldn’t help but smile.

I looked at Andy and he just stared past me. The way he was staring made me look and when I did I just caught the back of someone walking away. “who is that?” I asked Andy and he just looked at me. “you really didn’t see who you were dancing with?” he asked me and I just sighted.

“you watched me did I once opened my eyes?” I asked him sarcastically. He pointed his finger to the direction which the guy walked and said, “well that was him.” I looked and he was already gone.

“come dance with me.” I said and took Andy’s hand leading him to the dance floor not waiting for a reply.

I put my arms around his neck and he has his hands on my waist. A slow song was playing and we swayed to the music. “I’m sorry for doubting you.” Andy said and pulled me closer against him.

“it’s fine. At least now I understand what it was all about, and you have no reason to be jealous.” I said and just tightened my hold on him.

“there you guys are.” I heard Jessy say. I looked over at her and just laughed. “Jess you might want to fix your hair.” I said and tucked a strand behind her ear.

“well how was the dance?” she asked changing the subject.

I filled her in on what happened leaving some detail out, but Andy made sure to tell her everything and I mean everything. She didn’t even care about the fight Andy and I had or the jealousy she just said, “you don’t know who you danced with?” great now Andrew is looking at me like I’m mad.

“I need a drink.” I said and left the dance floor with Jessy accompanying me. “where were you because I was looking for you.” I said and poured a glass of punch handing it to Jessy and pouring one for me.

“I was in Andrew’s car we had some catching up to do.” She said and smirked over her glass.

“hallo ladies.” Came Tommy’s voice from behind us.

I turned around and said, “you better stay away from me Tommy. You have caused enough trouble.” I said and walked away.

He jumped into my way and said, “what are you doing with a guy like him? you can have me.” Tommy said and I threw my drink at him. “not even if we were the last two people left on the planet.” I said and walked away. ‘great, now I have no drink left.”

“damn girl.” Was all Jessy said and handed me her drink. “I don’t want so you can have mine.”

I smiled at her and went to join the guys at the snacks table. they didn’t see what happened but the night is still young. I am really starting to regret this dress.

The rest of the night went smoothly and it was fun. We had dancing competitions and Andy saw that I can actually dance and his jaw landed on the floor. I took hip hop dance classes but stopped when my father died.

One thing we didn’t know is that there will be a spring Queen and a spring King. As everyone assembled in front of the stage the school principal started speaking, “boys and girls we didn’t say anything about this because we wanted to keep it a surprise but we will be announcing a spring King and Queen and they will each get a small gift.

Now for the spring King,” she held up an envelope and took a card out, “and the spring king is Andy Adams.” She said and the spotlight hit Andy. Applause went around the gym and girls whistling. “go get your crown my king.” I said and pushed him forward.

I watched as he walked onto the stage bending a bit to receive his crown and a small envelope.

“now for our spring Queen, we have a tie between two girls so what we will do is we will let the audience make a decision. Will Dominique Brown and Anna Lane join me on stage?”

When I heard my name everything went silent. I heard cheers and whistles from guys as I made my way to the stage.

As I stand up there looking at everyone one guy caught my attention. He was staring straight at me. He isn’t a student he looks a bit too old but he is definitely the hottest man in this room. He has five O clock stubble and I think his eyes is a light colour maybe blue, he has a mixture between light and dark hair, he is tall and muscular but not too muscular. His face looks as if it was sculpted from that of a god. Sharp jaw, high cheekbones and he has a perfect nose. Not small and not big either just perfect.

I was broken out of my trance when my name was called I looked at miss Grace and said, “excuse me?” everyone started laughing except for that guy.

“please turn with your back to the crowed and close your eyes.” I did as she said and the hall went silent. “okay I will point to each girl and you will just raise a hand without making a noise.” Miss Grace said and dread fell over me.

Ten minutes later she said we can turn around and a decision has been made.

“I’m sorry to inform, but we can only have one Queen so Dominique can you please leave the stage and I give you Anna Lane as your spring Queen.” Dominique stormed off stage anger evident on her face. I received my crown and looked at the crowd.

That same guy who has been watching me was now smiling, and if it was even possible but he looks even more gorgeous smiling. He turned around and left.

Andy and I left the stage together and now we have to dance. We get one dance where it is just us on the floor and I’ve decided on a spicy salsa.

I told Andy and I know he knows the dance because we did it before.

When we started dancing the crowd just melted away and nothing mattered but me and him.

At the end of the dance we had every single pair eyes on us and some people’s jaws actually hung open. ‘okay maybe it wasn’t the most appropriate dace for a school, but that was fun and now seeing their faces is even more fun.’

Tommy was standing in the front just staring at me in such a way that sent shivers down my spine. “that was amazing and you are one amazing dancer.” Andy said and claimed my lips in a quick but passionate kiss.

We stayed behind for a while watching as everyone left, I went searching for that guy in the crowd, but I couldn’t find him anywhere I described him to a few kids and they all just said, “sorry we didn’t see him.”

“that was supposed to be my crown.” Dominique shouted at me.

I turned around to look at her and just shrugged my shoulders. When I looked over her shoulders I saw the guy standing by the door. It’s like my legs worked on their own accord because I just walked past a fuming Dominique and walked over to the guy.

He is even more beautiful the closer I get, and I was wrong he doesn’t have blue eyes he has green eyes those that looks through your soul.

As I got closer I started feeling weird, almost like I’m dreaming.

“who are you?” I asked before I could stop myself. He lifted his hand and rubbed his thumb over my cheek whispering, “beautiful just like I knew you would be.”

It’s as if realisation just came out of nowhere. “you bought the dress.” I said and I already have the answer I just need confirmation and I got it. He nodded his head and said, “everything will make sense soon.” He said and looked over my shoulder raising a brow.

I turned to look and saw Dominique staring at me open mouthed and Andy wasn’t looking at me, but staring at the guy.

“can I at least know your name?” I asked and received the same gorgeous smile.

“it’s Damien and I already know yours… Anna.” He said and I almost lost my balance. The way he said my name makes me wish I had my phone on record.

“why are you doing this to me? first you take my crown and now you want the guy I saw first?” came Dominique’s irritating voice from behind me breaking me out of my trance.

I looked at her and said, “why are you so annoying? I didn’t take anything from you as for this guy he’s a free man I’m sure if he wanted to talk to you he would have.”

‘where in the hell did that come from?’ I asked myself not believing that I actually said that. Why did I say that? I never talk like this.

I looked over at Damien and he just smirked at me. Dominique screeched and stormed off leaving me confused.

“he never said you are Sassy.” Damien said and I just stared at him.

“I’m not. I don’t know what is happening to me.” I said honestly confused.

“you can’t hide your true self when you are close to me. it’s like every mask and cloak you put on for pretence falls off and you reveal your true self.”

“what does that even mean?” I asked looking at the guy like he is crazy, but aren’t they all?

“good night Anna.” He said and just left. I stood there staring after him open mouthed.

When I walked back to Andy he was talking to Andrew not even looking at me.

“well you just met the guy you were dancing with earlier.” Jessy said and she looks mad.

Why is everyone mad at me tonight?”
