THE DANCE

Tuesday went by and I didn’t have any accidents or anything thanks to Jessy. She was literally my bodyguard she held my arm the whole day and walked me from class to class even though she was late for two classes. She told Andy about what happened when he came home and he was horrified. “well no more walking around unprotected.” He said and I didn’t find that funny.

Jessy was carrying on about the dress she bought and that she wants to see mine but I kept saying “no.”

I put the packet into my wardrobe and locked the door so that Jessy don’t go snooping.

I woke up this morning feeling sick. My nerves is all over the place and Jessy hasn’t been making it any easier with her caution. Anna don’t do this, Anna don’t do that, Anna you are not driving Anna… Anna… Anna…

I groaned and threw the pillow back over my face. I have to escape Jessy even for just a few minutes. I love my friend dearly, but she has been taking my bad day a bit too far.

I looked over and saw that she is still sleeping like a baby. I switched off the alarm before it went off and sneaked to my mother’s room. I had a shower and got dressed writing a note and leaving it on the kitchen counter.

“I will see you at school. Take your car Jess I’m taking mine.”

I grabbed a bottle of water and an apple and left.

I can’t tell you how amazing it feels to be behind the wheel again. I moved my hands over the steering wheel and said, “I’ve missed you my baby.”

I put the handbrake down freeing the car out the driveway as not to wake Jessy and Andy.

Before you think I’m mean, I did switch the alarm back on. I just changed the time to 7:15 instead of 7.

When I was far enough from home I started my car and drove to school. I had all the windows open feeling as the wind blew my hair into every direction.

So far nothing happened. I gave a sight of relieve and it was short lived.

As I drove over the bridge my car decided to die. I am stuck halfway to school and halfway home. I tried starting it, but it wouldn’t start.

“come on baby.” I pleaded and tried again.

I gave up after the hundredth time and just got out the car and started walking to school. A car pulled up beside me about ten minutes from school.

“what is a pretty lady like you doing walking on a road like this?” I looked over my shoulder and groaned.

“what do you want Tommy?” I asked and kept on walking.

“Offering you a ride, what does it look like?” he asked half irritated at me. I looked over at him and said, “no thank you.”

He was persistent though and kept driving alongside me until he finally had to take a turn.

I took a shortcut through the woods knowing I will come out at the back of the school.

As I walked I sang my favourite song and after a while I started feeling like someone is watching me. I took a look around me and couldn’t see anything, but I cannot shake the feeling that I’m being watched.

I started walking faster and ended up running.

I ran into the school yard and didn’t stop until I saw people. I looked back and I swear someone was standing there dressed in a black suit watching me.

I walked to the front of the school and saw a very angry Jessy and Andy standing at the entrance waiting for me.

When Jessy saw me she stared walking my way. ‘here it comes.’ I thought and mentally slapped myself.

“what the hell Anna?” Jessy shouted at me. “we woke up and you were gone, and then we saw your car is gone just to find it next to the road.” Andy said taking his sister’s side.

They kept talking not even giving me a chance to say something and I’ve had it.

“guys! I just needed some space.” I said and that shut them up.

Andy looked at me and said, “why didn’t you just say so? Do you have any idea what went through my head when we saw your car but no you?” I fumbled with my fingers not able to look at him.

When I did look up all I could say was “I’m sorry.”

Andy pulled me into a hug and kissed the top of my head.

The day went buy quickly and without any trouble and no accidents… yet.

“so what are you wearing for the Dance?” Andy asked walking beside me to my car.

‘oh and by the way my car started and Andy drove it to school for me.’

“you will just have to wait and see.” I said and giggled at his expression. He looks like a small kid.

“come on, at least tell me what colour it is so that I know what tie to wear.”

I shook my head and smiled. “I already have your tie so no need for you to know.” I said and pecked his lips. Jessy joined us and shouted, “I will finally see her dress.” and pumped her fists in the air.

“what is it with you two and my dress?” I asked really interested.

“well you have been so secretive that it made us curious and I can’t wait to see it.” Jessy and Andy said looking at me like two lost puppies.

I drove home Andy driving with me and Jessy driving behind us. “so what does your dress look like?” Andy asked once again. I slapped my forehead and said, “you will see so stop asking.”

Jessy is taking forever in the shower so I took out my dress and walked into my mother’s room locking the door. I took the box out of the packet and took the dress out laying it on the bed.

I stood there staring at it once again and looked at the card. ‘who are you?’ I asked no one in particular.

I took a shower and washed my hair shaved my legs and everything. Half an hour later I get out of the shower and wrapped myself in one of the fluffy white towel.

I walked over to the dressing table and started drying my hair.

Every now and then my eyes catches the dress in the mirror and I realised I didn’t even bring lingerie or something to wear under the dress.

When I finished drying my hair I covered the dress and walked out locking the door again.

“there you are. We have been looking for you.” Jessy said and looked down at the towel. “no use she isn’t even dressed yet.” Jessy said and Andy stepped out of the room. When he looked at me I saw his eyes darken with lust and my breath hitched.

I walked past both of them and walked to my closet. I took out a victoria’s secret bag knowing I will have a set of red lingerie in there and left again.

I kept the make-up light, just a little foundation, mascara, eyeliner and a light shade of red eye shadow. I did my hair up in a messy bun letting some loose strands fall around my face. I took one of my mother’s pendants a red ruby shaped into a teardrop with a fine silver chain and matching earrings.

‘time for the dress.’ I thought as I walk over to the bed and picked the dress up. I still can’t get over how beautiful it is.

I put the dress on and it feels like silk against my skin that soft is the fabric. The dress reaches mid-thigh in the frons and the tail almost touches the floor. I straighten the dress out twirling around before I bent to put on the heels.

When I straightened I walked to the mirror and gasped when I saw myself. I had to touch my arm just to make sure that it is me looking back at myself.

I never knew I would look so beautiful in the colour red. So elegant and it matches my skin perfectly.

I walked over to the bed and gathered everything putting it into the bag. I looked at the note again and said, ‘you do have good taste.’

There was a banging on the door and Jessy said, “come on you have been in there for hours now.”

“I’m coming, I’m coming.” I said and walked to the door. As I unlock the door I heard a voice in my ear, “beautiful.” I didn’t bother to turn around because I know I won’t see anyone. I opened the door and walked out. When I walked into my room Jessy’s jaw dropped to the floor.

I just stood there staring at her waiting for her to say something.

A whole minute passed and her mouth was still open. “what do you think?” I asked uncertain and feeling a bit self-conscious.

Finally she closed her mouth and said, “I… I… I don’t know what to say except WOW.”

I felt a slight blush creeping up and said, “thank you.” I took in her appearance and said, “you look beautiful Jess.”

She shook her head and said, “no, no, no… tonight we are falling at your feet worshipping you for the goddess you look to be.”

She walked past me and called for Andy. I have totally forgotten about him. I took out his red tie from the packet and waited for him. ‘would he like the dress?’

‘is it too much?’ questions started going through my head and now I just feel like staying home.

Jessy walked in covering Andy’s eyes and said, “are you ready to be blown away?”

“Jess I swear if you don’t...” Andy’s words died when Jessy removed her hands from his eyes and they fell on me.

His green eyes turned a shade darker as he stared at me. I walked closer to him and he stopped me. “you look absolutely beautiful.” He said and walked closer to me stopping in front of me. He bent his head and captured my lips with his in a gentle but hot needy kiss.

He pulled me tight against him and I could feel just how much I affected him. this is the first time something like this ever happens to me.

I blushed from my toes to the tips of my ears. he pulled away from me and said, “you are driving me crazy.” And his eyes spoke every word he couldn’t say.

I put the tie around his neck and tied it for him. he looks like my prince, dressed in a formal black suit his hair neatly done into semi spikes and he is shaven clean.

I rubbed my hand down his cheek and whispered, “you look handsome.”

He stole a kiss from me again and we got interrupted with a camera flash. “perfect.” Jessy said and took more photo’s.

We left the house taking my car and guess what I’m not driving yet again.

When we got to the dance Andy helped me out of the car and Andrew helped Jessy.

Andrew met us here waiting next to his silver porch.

Jessy threw herself into his arms and kissed him like there is no tomorrow.

I smiled at the two of them and put my hand in the crook of Andy’s arm.

As we walk heads turn and boys whistle. At first I thought they were all staring at Jessy but when I looked up they were all staring at me.
