Although it was no more than 20 feet of walking, it felt like miles. I kept thinking about what would happen out there. I kept telling myself over and over again that everything was going to be okay, but I couldn't convince myself. I took the first weapon I saw in the bag. It was much heavier than the ones we had trained with. I wondered if it was because of fear, or simply because this was a real weapon.
