Alpha's Unexpected Mate

New place, new life

After a 11 hour flight I finally landed at Martinsburg. I was excited as well as nervous about the move. I quickly booked a cab and impatiently waited for it to arrive. My new place that my mom bought me when I decided to move was 15 minutes away from thr airport.

Finally when I reached the apartment and unlocked the door I smiled at the view in front of me. Mom never failed to do everything perfectly. I locked the door and went to sit on the couch. I was feeling very tired because of the long journey. But I wanted to get a shower first so I quickly went to the washroom.

I suddenly remembered that I hadn't called mom yet and took out my phone. There were already 10 missed calls from her. I sighed as I thought how worried she must be right now. I dialled her number and it just rang twice before she received the call. Damn this woman is quicker than me, I thought to myself. "Where were you, Emerie? Why weren't you picking your phone? I've been worried sick ", she started shouting at me.

" Relax mom. I was tired so I went to take a shower and my phone was on silent so I didn't see your calls. I'm perfectly fine, okay? Now please stop worrying", I said hurriedly in an attempt to calm her down.

"Okay, that's alright. But please be more careful from the next time. You almost gave me a heart attack, girl", she said in a very serious tone. I chuckled at her reaction. " Yes I'm sorry, mom. I'll be more careful from now and try not to give you a heart attack ", I joked, trying to lighten up her mood. That's when my stomach decided to rumble loudly to let me know that I was hungry.

" Mom I'm really hungry. I'll call you later, okay? ", I said. " Sure, little one. Go and order something. I love you ", she chirped. "I love you too, mom. Please take care of yourself now that I'm not there to take care of you", I said and hung up the call.

I decided to order my favourite chicken white sauce pasta. I started unpacking my boxes as I waited for the food to arrive. I loaded the cupboard with my clothes and put away all my shoes in the shoe rack. The bell rung and I quickly went to get it. I just couldn't wait to eat anymore. I dug into the delicious looking pasta in front of me. I moaned as I took the first bite. The food here definitely tasted better than any of the restaurants back at my hometown.

After finishing the food I climbed into the bed and soon drifted off to sleep. I woke up the next day and as it was Sunday and I didn't have school I decided to roam around in the city for a bit. At first, I decided to go to the mall and get some new clothes and other necessities. I took a cab to the mall. There were many stores filled with such gorgeous dresses and I couldn't decide on what to buy.

My phone buzzed as I was walking through the mall. I took it out of my pocket and saw that it was a text from my mom asking me if I was doing here. I started typing as I kept walking and bumped into someone. I shut my eyes tightly as I thought I was about to fall but once I was sure that I was not hurt I peeled open my eyes. My cheeks turned bright red when I saw that I was lying on a guy.

"I'm so sorry I didn't see you there", I said as I got up and turned my face to hide my embarrassment. "It's fine. But I've never seen you around. Are you new here? ", he asked. " Yes I just reached here yesterday", I said still not looking at him. " Oh that's great. Uh, sorry. Where are my manners? Hey, I'm Nick Martin", he said and extended his hand. "I'm Emerie Davis", I said smiling at him as I shook his hand.

Just then his phone started ringing. " Uh oh I'm late. I'm sorry I have to leave now. I'll see you later, I guess?", he said apologetically. "Yeah maybe", I said and smiled at him. He waved at me and left.

I completed the rest of my shopping and went home with a smile plastered on my face as I was very happy about all the clothes and shoes that I had bought. My phone chimed with a notification on f*******:. I opened it to find out that the guy named Nick from the mall had sent me a friend request. I sighed as I stared at my phone not being able to decide whether I should accept his request or not. Maybe he really did mean it when he said that we'll see each other later. After thinking for a while I finally hit the confirm button and accepted his request.

I had already finished my dinner at the mall so I quickly went to the washroom and brushed my teeth. After coming back to the room I scrolled through my f*******: for some time. Tomorrow would be the first day at my new school. I was nervous and excited at the same time. It's not that I'm bad at making friends. But I didn't know how the people here were going to treat me.

Just when I was busy thinking about all of the things that could happen to me at school, my phone chimed with a text from Nick on f*******:.

Nick : Hey can we meet up some time this week? I'd love to show you around.

Emerie : Maybe. I'm not sure right now.

Nick : Awww, why so?

Emerie : I'll have to be looking for a job. I'll see if I can get some free time out. Anyway, I'll talk to you later. Tomorrow is gonna be a long day. Good night.

Nick : Sure, good night.

I put away my phone after our conversation and drifted off to sleep. Tomorrow really is going to be a long day.
