Episode 88: Torn Between Two Worlds

600 Words
The Unspoken Battle Nathaniel’s presence was like a blade slicing through the charged atmosphere. Bella swallowed, feeling the weight of his stare. He hadn’t planned to come—she knew that. He was here because of her. Because he sensed, deep down, that this night wasn’t just about a gala. It was about Alex. And now, here they were. Alex, standing tall and confident, his piercing gaze locked onto her like a silent challenge. Nathaniel, steady but tense, his hands curled into fists at his sides. Two men. Two loves. Her past and her present colliding in a single moment. Alex broke the silence first. “Nathaniel,” he greeted smoothly, his tone unreadable. Nathaniel nodded stiffly. “Alexander.” There was no mistaking the territorial energy between them. Bella inhaled sharply, trying to gather herself. “Nathaniel, I—” He didn’t look at her. His eyes were on Alex, sharp with an unspoken warning. “This was a mistake.” Alex’s jaw twitched. “She’s not a mistake.” Nathaniel let out a humorless chuckle. “That’s rich, coming from the man who let her go.” Bella’s breath caught. Alex’s expression darkened. “You think I let her go?” He took a step closer, his voice dangerously low. “Do you know how many nights I spent searching for her after she disappeared? Do you know how many times I wished I could undo everything?” Nathaniel clenched his jaw. “And yet, you’re the reason she was broken in the first place.” Bella felt the air tighten around them. “Nathaniel—” She reached for him, but he pulled back, eyes clouded with hurt. “I love you, Bella,” he said, voice raw. “But I can’t keep standing in the middle of whatever this is.” She felt her heart drop. “I—” But before she could find the words, Nathaniel turned and walked away. Leaving her standing there. With Alex. Again. The Confession That Changes Everything Bella turned to Alex, her emotions spiraling. “Why did you do this?” He met her gaze, unapologetic. “Because you’re lying to yourself, Bella.” Her breath hitched. “I’m not—” “Yes, you are.” His voice was fierce now, his emotions finally slipping through. “You think you can love him and forget everything we had, but you can’t. Because you still look at me like this.” He took a step forward, closing the distance. And Bella realized—she was trembling. “Tell me,” he whispered, eyes locked onto hers, “when he kisses you, does it feel like this?” Before she could protest, before she could even think, Alex cupped her face and kissed her. It wasn’t just a kiss. It was devastation. It was every unspoken word. Every regret. Every desperate plea. Bella’s breath shattered as her body betrayed her. For one reckless, fleeting second—she kissed him back. And then, reality crashed into her like a tidal wave. She tore herself away, breathing hard, hands trembling. “Don’t,” she whispered, her voice barely holding together. “You don’t get to do this to me.” Alex’s eyes were full of anguish. “Bella—” But she was already backing away. Because in that moment, she realized something terrifying. She didn’t know who she was anymore. She had fought so hard to move forward, to love Nathaniel, to build a life outside of Alex’s shadow. And yet… Here she was. Breaking all over again. To be continued...
