Episode 61: A Love That Won’t Let Go

386 Words
The Echo of a Choice The air in the café felt heavier than usual. Bella stood behind the counter, gripping the edge as if it could somehow ground her. But nothing could. Because Alex was outside. Because Nathaniel had walked away. Because no matter how much she tried to convince herself that she had made the right choice, she felt like she was standing at the edge of a cliff—terrified to jump, terrified to stay. Instead, she whispered, "Loving you has never been the problem, Alex." His gaze flickered, something raw in his expression. "Then what is?" Bella exhaled shakily. "Surviving you." For a moment, Alex looked like she had punched the air from his lungs. And then, without another word, he turned and walked away. The One Who Stayed Bella had never been the type to cry easily. But that night, she did. She cried because Nathaniel had given her an out, and she hadn’t taken it. She cried because Alex had finally let her go, and it didn’t feel like relief. She cried because for the first time, she realized she might have lost them both. And maybe… Maybe she deserved to. To Be Continued...
