Brielle's POV
I let out a sigh of sadness as I stood in front of the bathroom mirror. My gaze was drawn to the scar on my belly that had long been hidden from view. The scar, however, was now visible to everyone thanks to the video Alice shared.
My father had sent me away from the turbulence that surrounded our tribe, so I had to switch schools frequently. The scar revealed my true status as the daughter of a hunter, which my father would definitely wish to keep hidden.
I returned to my room after taking a bath with a troubled heart. I was exhausted just looking at the clothes I had planned for school. The incessant barrage of snide remarks from my classmates had become intolerable.
I heard a knock on my door and instantly began to dress up. "Come in," I cried, and the door opened, showing my aunt.
My father sent me to live with my uncle, and his wife was one of the sweetest people I've ever met; she made me feel at ease, and I never once regretted living with her.
"Hey Brielle," she began, and I smiled, attempting to hide the worry that was clouding my mind.
"Aunt Claire," I called, and she chuckled sitting on my bed
"Are you okay? I noticed you have been distant for a while now. You hardly come downstairs to prepare evening snacks with me"Aunt Claire said, and I swallowed thinking about the right words to use, I didn't want her to know what was going on with me.
"Just school stuff, I feel tired nowadays, teachers keep on giving us different assignments and project work to do, "I said, Aunt Claire didn't look convinced, she decided to keep shut instead and smiled
"Okay then, I will leave you to get ready. Breakfast is ready, and you should know I am always here for you when you need someone to talk to" she said and I nodded.
She stood up from my bed and her eyes darted around my room before she walked out. I sighed gladly and started getting ready for school.
Her words, for some odd reason, gave me the strength to go to school again and fight my demons alone, I finished dressing up and took my breakfast before leaving the house and going to school.
I wasn't sure what was waiting for me this time around, and I carefully opened my locker, I was surprised to meet my locker intact with no dirt or curse words waiting for me, I smiled and picked the books I required before going to my class.
The school seems to be back to normal as no one paid attention to me and I feel so relaxed that all eyes have turned away from me. No one called me mean names anymore, and I felt the happiest.
It was lunchtime and I went to the cafeteria after a hectic class. I was already getting used to not having Alice around me, and I think in a week's time I will be perfectly fine without her.
“Here are the chips and ketchup you requested,” the waiter said, and I smiled, taking the tray my food was in, I was walking back to sit on the seat I occupied earlier when I suddenly fell and everything fell on me.
I groaned and tried standing up, but I yelped, my knees were hurt, and I noticed someone kept her leg on the way, it was not any other person but Cherry, everyone in the cafeteria burst into laughter and I noticed they were just pretending, they still have their eyes on me.
“So welcome to today’s episode of the slut of Greenville high school, thank you so much for the many likes on the last video and I hope today’s video gets you laughing” I heard Hayley say and everyone laughed.
I noticed she was recording live, and I covered my face immediately, my heart beat wildly against my rib cage and I tried standing up, “Stop it! Don’t record me!” I yelled and tried standing up.
“You should say hello to your followers Brielle, they love the last video so much!” she said and everyone chuckled
I forced myself to stand up even with my knee that was hurting terribly, I slapped her phone away from her hand angrily, and it fell on the floor, and it broke, the cafeteria suddenly became quiet as everyone gasped.
“What did you just do?! Do you know how much I brought my iPhone 14?” Hayley yelled, and I suddenly felt something slimy rolling down my cheek, I was shocked someone had thrown some spaghetti on me.
They all chuckled and started throwing their food at me, calling different demeaning names, I couldn’t take it anymore, and I ran away from the cafeteria, I ran to the rooftop of the school building and burst into tears.
I was tired of everything going on around me and I didn’t think I could live anymore, maybe things will be better if I died and no one gets to see me anymore.
I sluggishly dragged my legs to the edge of the building, thinking about how everything will be fine if I finish it here, a lot of people have watched that video and I don't know how I'm going to survive now if I don’t die here.
I thought about my parents and family, but I willed my mind to forget about it; it would upset them, but they'll be back to their old selves in no time; I closed my eyes and leaped.
I waited to feel the contact and possibly die, but something stopped me, and when I opened my eyes, I saw an unknown female holding my hands tightly and my legs dangling in the air.
"Let me go!"I yelled as tears streamed down my cheeks.
"Help me, you i***t!"She shrieked, and I saw Finn stepping on his cigarette and running towards us.
He shoved me back quickly, and I collapsed on the floor, coughing profusely.
"What is wrong with you?!"The girl shouted, and my eyes were blurred with tears, making it impossible for me to make plausible words.
