Chapter 7: A Deep Scar

1056 Words
Brielle’s POV "Are you all right now? My name is Laura," the girl who helped me said, and I returned my sight to her after staring at the door Finn walked out of. "Yes, I am fine, thank you so much," I answered as I sat up, and she smiled. "That's great, so are you going to class now?" I considered going to class when she asked. I don't think I'm in the mood to attend class with the state I am in. "No, I'm going home," I said as I stood up from the bed I was lying on. "Okay, let me see you off," she said, and I gave her a suspicious look; I'm not sure why she wants to help me, and it was strange; I need to be careful; she may be one of Hayley's minions who wants to mock me. "I don't think that is necessary," I said. "Yeah, I know it's not, but let me see you off," she added, and I groaned; she seems determined to see me off. "Okay, I need to get something from my locker," I replied, and she nodded. I observed Laura constantly smiling, and her eyes are gorgeous; she has ocean blue eyes, and her blonde silky hair is the most beautiful. She looks exactly like a Barbie doll. She walks out of the school clinic with me, and we went to my locker, luckily students weren’t lingering around the hall anymore. I quickly picked up the books I needed and started walking outside, Laura was walking beside me. “Suicide is not an option Brielle” she suddenly said, and we halted our steps, I turned to look at her “I have seen Hayley and her group bully you, that is not the first time such a thing is happening in this school and victims always ends up taking drastic measures,” Laura said, and I wondered why Hayley was not expelled “I know it’s going to be a deep scar that won’t heal anytime soon, but you should learn to live with it and become stronger. You should know bullies don’t have powers over you except you let them, you are amazing and no number of videos can take that away from you, so don’t ever allow anyone to make you feel less than you are” Laura said, and my eyes got blurry, my knuckles became so white as I fisted my hand. “Why did you help me? How do you know I was going to do such a thing on the rooftop?” I asked, feeling skeptical about everything and everyone around me. “I saw when you ran off, I wanted to talk to you, but you ran towards the rooftop and I knew something was off immediately, and I needed to stop you,” she said, and I snorted, this can be another form of bullying, maybe Hayley sent her to me again and the last mistake I will do again is trusting anyone ever again. “I will be going, I can walk alone from here,” I said, and she halted my steps with her next words “Look around, there are a lot of beautiful things and people around you, that you wouldn’t want to cause eternal pain to, by dying,” she said and I scoffed angrily “I get that you saved me and all, so just stop it! It’s getting annoying” I said and walked away from her. I took a cab that took me back home and I knocked on the door, Aunt Claire opened the door for me, and she was shocked when she saw me. “What are you doing here at this time?” she asked, surprised to see me back home, I fell into her arms and she wrapped her hands around me immediately. “Easy! Easy!” she said, and I burst into tears. I can’t believe I tried ending my life, and now I realize how stupid I must have been. Aunt Claire broke the hug and looked at me, “what happened Brielle? You are getting me worried” she said and I smiled sadly, wiping my tears away. “I am fine, nothing happened. I just felt overwhelmed, and I want to bake some cookies with you” I said, and Aunt Claire burst into laughter, she wiped the remnant of tears on my face and cupped my face “Like I always say, if you need anyone to talk to, I am always here for you, so go ahead and change your clothes into something more comfortable and join me in the kitchen,” Aunt Claire said and I nodded. I went to my room and changed into a tank top and a short, I sighed and went to the kitchen, I saw Aunt Claire bringing out the ingredients we needed to start baking. She tilted her head to look at me when she noticed my presence and smiled, I smiled back and thought about how foolish I was, and how I could have snatched the beautiful smile from their faces if I did what I wanted to do. I thought about how my father would have felt, how shocked Aunt Claire and my uncle would have been, how hard it would have been for them to adjust, and I know I was being selfish I didn’t think about them when I decided to end my life, like Finn said, I was being a coward for trying to take the easy and most stupid route. I sighed and moved closer to Aunt Claire. "Let's do this!" I said and Aunt Claire chuckled as we basked ourselves in flour. I know I need to make some changes when I return to school tomorrow; I need to thank Finn and Laura for their assistance, and I need to apologize to Laura for what I did; even though she might be one of Hayley's minions, she went out of her way to save me. I spent the night concentrating on my guilty conscience and couldn't wait to get back to school and make things right. I've never been disrespectful to anyone who has helped me before, and I'm not going to start now or change myself because of Alice and Hayley.
