----Trip----
***Lanie’s POV***
After everything was packed up, I calculated the time it would take to get there via flying. My eyes followed the routes and mentally mapped out a route while my fingers dragged against the map. Suddenly, arms wrapped around my tiny frame and soft kisses were being planted against my neck.
“ Mmmm… Alec… are you really that worried, my love?” I smiled softly, leaning into his arms. I secretly wished that I didn’t have to leave his arms but I needed to save my mother. I couldn’t ask Sophia to do it and she was also a werewolf. I was the only one who could do it.
“ I just worry something will happen to you. I hate the fact that I can’t be there with you and protect you.” His fingers twirled in my auburn locks, kissing more against my neck.
A seductive growl sounded from him as he could smell my arousal from his kisses against my neck and how I wanted to go at him again but I pushed away before losing my control.
“ Baby, I don’t have time for that right now. I need to save Mother.”
“ I know, I know. When you are back and your mother is all healed though, I’m spending a whole entire day worshipping that perfect body of yours and showing you how badly I want you to be my wife.” He smirked while my face turned red.
“ When I’m back, okay?” I smiled shyly, unable to form thoughts or any other words.
Alec spun me around and pressed his lips against mine. It felt like the brightest fire had awoken in my soul when our lips touched and I began to understand how I truly loved this man. How I wanted to spend my life with him. It was absolutely crazy since we had just met, but something about him, about us… it felt so right. Maybe I could feel the mating bond too, but not as strongly as a werewolf?
Pulling away, he smiled with his eyes full of the love that mirrored mine.
“ I love you; hurry back to me, princess.”
“ I will, I love you too, Loverboy.” I grinned and booped his nose playfully before turning back around to memorize the route before folding the map and putting it in my bag.
I calculated that it would take a quarter to half a day to get there, depending on how fast I flew and the bird that I would change into. The faster the bird, the more magic would drain from me. I may need to reserve some just in case I have a run in with any of the witches.
Smiling, I kissed Alec again before heading outside. Sophia, Arsen, and Alec all followed me.
“ Please be safe, sis! We will see you soon!”
“ Bye, Lanie! Don’t fly into a tree now.” Joked Arsen as I shot him a death glare.
“ Sophia, don’t make me lock your husband up in one of my vine prisons when I get back.” I scowled as Arsen had grown to treat me like a little sister of his.
“ Don’t worry, I’m sure you’ll be too busy making pups with Alec when you get back. I saw your mark.” Sophia smirked, giggling slightly.
Shaking my head, I rolled my eyes at them.
“ See you all soon!”
Looking towards the south, I let out a deep breath.
“ Ae.”
Shrinking rapidly, my body slowly became covered in feathers. My eyes grew smaller as my eyesight became sharper and more focused. Protruding quickly into a sharp beak, my normal pink lips were no more. My clothing fell off of me as I hopped out of it as a red tailed hawk. Using my beak, I opened the special made pouch and shoved the clothing inside and closed it, clasping it to my leg, right above my talons.
Looking back at my family again, I spread my large brown wings and set off for the guild. I will never tire of how the wind felt going through my wings. I wish I could close my eyes and feel the wind rippling and flirting with my feathers but I needed to pay attention. The area was known to have some predatory birds and I knew I needed to stay sharp. I knew that most birds would leave me alone but eagles could potentially still attack me.
The trees blew past me as I soared faster and higher into the air. I felt like it was going to be an uneventful trip. Unfortunately, I was wrong. Just then, an eagle dived towards me, aiming for my bag which it probably thought was prey.
I barreled out of the way and shrieked to try to get the eagle to go away but it dove at me again, determined to have my prey. Barely missing my bag this time, I dove into the trees to try to lose the eagle. Adrenaline pumped through my veins as my eyesight became even better while I flew around the trees with ease. Thankfully, my hawk was smaller and could take the corners easier.
The eagle’s shriek sounded behind me as I dove around the trees. I needed to lose this bird!
Finding a thick, bushy tree, I hid in its leaves and waited. Seconds felt like eternities as I used my heightened senses to watch and listen. I must have stayed there for fifteen minutes before deciding to move and taking off again.
I’d stay close to the tree lines this time, learning my lesson about flying too high - like Icarus and flying too close to the sun.
The rest of the trip went well and I could see the Witches’ Guild ahead. Steeling my resolve, I dove down and unclasped my bag, hiding it in a bush and scratching the dirt to remind myself which one it was. It was now or never to scope the place out.
Taking to the air, I nonchalantly flew over the guild to scope out if they had the flower growing there. The sun was setting as I scanned the area inside of the guild lands to see nothing.
Oh no… did they not have the flower? What was I going to do? Panic clenched my chest while I did another fly by to look again. Still nothing in the guild lands! Did I go all the way here for nothing?!
