I still didn't call dad. Not even before I stepped into the car and started off for home, nor when mom called and said she was expecting me to be home before it was dinner.
Of course I was eager to see dad but I didn't ask her why dad had not called to say anything about me coming home. Or didn't he know that I was coming home? I didn't say much to mom before I started the drive.
The girls had sent me texts telling me to fill them in on whatever happened and how the guy I was to meet looked like. I didn't feel as enthusiastic as they did and I would have stayed back if not for reasons that included not wanting to embarrass mom and dad.
