I was glad when they stopped arguing. But mom called just then and I could have sworn that I wanted anything but her call. Why was she calling? Had she learned something about my health from the girls and was now calling for that reason? I hoped not.
She had to be calling for a reason that had nothing to do with my health. I took the call, but not before catching Mag's eye.
Mom did not roll very much with the girls but she knew them and I knew she would ask them and they would tell her anything that they had deemed important that had to do with me.
