Walking into work I couldn't be more excited about seeing Caleb, he made me feel like a teenager again butterflies explode in my stomach the moment I think about the kiss we shared just last night.
I hope this doesn't mean that working together would be awkward. For me anyway.
I walk through the building greeting everyone with a smile feeling upbeat today. Making it into my office I sit at my desk diving into the pile of work that has been already placed on my desk for me, weird.
Oh, that's right I have a new assistant today she probably retrieved these for me.
I thought making a mental note to meet and thank her later when I have the time.
"Knock, knock" I look and there's the same girl from yesterday at my door I really must get her name.
"Hi....I'm sorry I never caught your name"
"Rose"
"Pretty name what can I do for you rose"
"Your new assistant is here already would you like to meet her?" I was going to wait until after I was finished with the files, but I guess now could be a good time.
"Sure, send her in" she leaves, and I continue to look over Mr. Black’s documents checking to make sure everything was in place and spelled correctly before sending them off.
"And here you are I'm telling you you’re going to just love Ms. Jones we all do she's so nice and really pretty" I hear rose tell what I'm guessing to be my new assistant but I don't look up from my work waiting until they announce their selves.
"Abby meet Stacy knight she's your new assistant" once I hear that name my head shoots up. There stood Stacy not looking any different from the time I last seen her just a little older.
"Abby?"
"Hi Stacy" I politely say, rose leaves us and goes off to her own work while Stacy stands there in shock.
"Unbelievable of course you just disappear and now the P.A. For the most successful man in Florida" she laughs to herself shaking her head.
"I left for a reason but now that your here I'd like to say welcome and I hope that you have a great experience here as I did"
"Me and Mark are happy now I bet you didn't know that huh, we don't need you or want you in our lives anymore"
"Okay Stacy clearly we got off on a bad note when we were in high school but we're women now and I don't want Mark as far as you two being together congratulations" I smile genuinely at her feeling sad at how defensive she is when it comes to me and Mark getting together couldn't they see when I left I didn't take either of the men with me only Michael because he was really there for me and he still is.
She hesitates for a minute but smiles and readjust herself into looking more professional. I guess my words brought ease to her mind that I'm not going to steal her man but thinking of Mark made me miss the friendship we once had.
"If it's not a bother may I ask, how is he?"
"He's good I mean after you left, he was a mess but when he finally knew you weren't coming back, he got over it"
"That's good I wish you two the best of luck you deserve it" she smiles happily before leaving my office. I wonder why they chose to live here.
Finishing up my work I’m finally able to see Caleb. I quickly walk to his office knocking first so that I wouldn't disturb him.
"Come in"
"Your files Mr. Black" He looks up at me smiling, my heart skips a beat when he stands to his full height towering over me.
"Thank you, Ms. Jones, for all of your hard work" I smile politely placing the files neatly on his desk.
Suddenly, I'm picked up and twirled around.
"Caleb!"
"I'm sorry your just so adorable"
"You've mentioned that"
"Because it's true" He puts me back on my two feet and we stare into each other's eyes.
"You’re so beautiful you know that"
"I've been told once or twice" I laugh and so does he. The only thing I wanted to do right now was kiss those soft pink lips of his but the courage I once had vanished when a little thought popped into my head.
I was dying to ask the dreadful question, but I needed to know, or should I just let him decide what to do?
If I just come out and ask what are we would that be rushing into things?
But if I don't ask and we go on like this I might just go crazy thinking about the endless possibilities of us being together or not.
"Somethings on your mind"
"No"
"Spill I can see it all over your face" he takes a seat in his chair pulling me towards him by my waist. The action made those stupid butterflies come back and attack my insides, but I composed myself.
"I don't want to seem like that girl"
"What girl?"
"You know the one that assumes things without knowing the truth" I play with his tie that seemed to be very interesting now compared to his eyes.
"What are you assuming"
"I'm not assuming anything it's just we kissed and we like each other and I know things just doesn't happen like that but why not-" he pulls me into his lap and smashing his lips onto mine, my heart melts and I kiss him back loving the feeling I get when I'm with him.
"Abby would you do me the honors of being my girlfriend"
"Yes"
"Then it's settled no more assuming and I want to take you on a date tonight"
"Hmm... where are we going"
"Nowhere fancy just dress comfortable I'll pick you up at 8 sharp" I kiss him one last time before getting up from his lap.
"8 sharp I'll be ready"
Walking out of his office with a smile knowing that I have the most amazing man taking me on the most amazing date at '8 sharp'. I go back into my office and my once smile drops. My heart stutters and skips about three beats I'm sure. Why does this have to happen to me?
"Did you miss me baby girl" He stood there arrogantly leaning onto my desk.
"Oh, please Ethan don't flatter yourself"
"Ouch"
He sits in my chair observing my desk. I really wanted to punch his face but being at work and all I couldn't.
"Do you know Stacy's here what a match her and Mark are"
"Yes, I do know she told me herself"
"So, you two are getting along that's nice oh, and I found the loveliest home for the four of us, just you me Liam and Ricky like old times"
"Ethan leave now" I was tired of this. why couldn't he just leave me alone and go back to his life like it's been for the past two years? He stands and slowly walks to the door but stops in front of me.
"I will have you back baby girl if it's the last thing I do" he kisses my cheek softly and images of the old times flood my mind. I've missed those days when it was just us, but they are in the past where they should be kept.
"If I were you, I'd let Caleb down easily he shouldn't get mixed up into this mess"
"Goodbye Ethan" I push him out of my office and shut the door.
This can't happen again I can't feel for him the way I did when I was younger it was wrong and irresponsible of me to do those things but now, I need Michael he always knows what to say and do when I get like this.
I pick up my phone and dial his number, he answers on the second ring much to my relief.
"I need you mike"
"I'll be right there"
