Devon jerked to a sitting position, as soon as he was awake enough to realize, he was alone in his bed. He didn’t have to look around the room. He couldn’t hear her breathing or feel her presence. Her scent was still strong which told him she hadn’t been gone for very long.
With a growl, he scrambled out of the bed and flung his bedroom door wide open. Gripping the rim of the door, he thought about it for about three seconds then took off down the hall with every intention of retrieving his runaway mate.
“She’s long gone,” Kat informed him, with a yawn from her doorway, as he streaked past.
