Sunshine rained into Frank and Sarah’s room the next morning. He lay in bed with one arm behind his head. His other arm was around Sarah as she slept curled up beside him under a heavy comforter. For the last ten minutes he’d been staring into the receding shadows, thinking about the X-ray and his uncertain future. Mornings were the worst, when things were quiet, and the mind spun all sorts of unpleasant things to t*****e him.
