Taking Destiny Into Her Hands

MALAKAI I could smell him all over her. Alpha Demetrius really had the livers and guts and never in my wildest dream could I imagine he would be this bold. Never did I imagine he could send his daughter as a pawn in this dangerous game. I had indeed underestimated him. “My Lord, I have some news you would like to hear. It has to do with Alpha Demetrius.” My Beta interrupted my meeting with the lady. Although a little dissapointed, i had to go with out with him. I had to make sure I did everything within me to be way ahead of him. “News got to me that Alpha Demetrius had gone to Alpha Killian for an alliance.” He spoke and my brows arched. “But fortunately, Alpha Killian made him believe he is in support of him. He sent a guard to me earlier today to relay this information." My lips stretched into a curve. “I guess he is smarter than I thought. He is planning too well. You know..... he sent his daughter here. Perhaps, to get information about me to him but he clearly does not know what he has done. I am going to cut her limb and limb and send it to him. I have to make him know that I am not to be messed with....” I clenched my fist and turned to leave. “I found something else, my Lord.” He spoke and I halted. “The lady in custody.... is truly his daughter but.... he does not know about her.” “What do you mean?” “I made my research on her and I am sorry I went against your order of doing that but...... I found out that she was.... a mistake. I really do not know the full details of what happened but I got to know that her mother didn’t birth her in his pack. Not much is known about her mother.” He spoke. “But I got to know her mother was a warrior and her name is Nakoma.” I froze and tilted my head to look at him quickly. “Nakoma?” I probed and he nodded. “Although not much is known about her, it was stated that she died during childbirth but no one is too sure cause her body was not found even till date.” “No one must get to know about it. Maude must not get to know about the probability of her mother being alive.” I informed him. “Alive?” He probed. “She must not know what you have just told me. No one, not even Aziza must get to know about it.” Perhaps, it was time for Demetrius to pay for what he had done, perhaps, that was the reason why his daughter was sent to me. I however had to do everything and anything to make sure he paid heavily for what he had done to me, including killing my mother. “I will take my leave now. If you need my help for anything, do not hesitate to call me, my Lord.” He bowed and walked away, while I remained there, staring into space. I still could not figure out what to do. I had to make sure the secret of them being related stayed with me and my Beta and no one else. “I am willing to help you.” A voice suddenly shook me out of my thoughts and I turned briskly. I felt the ground shift beneath my feet. There she stood, free and defiant. Her arms were folded across her chest and a smirk played at the corner of my lips. How had she managed to escape? I had taken every precaution to ensure she remained locked up. How had she escaped? I couldn’t understand how she had moved from a pawn in the game to this unpredictable wild card, standing right in front of me. “How did you escape?” I managed to question, clenching my fist. “Oh, honey.... I set her free.” Aziza responded, emerging from the shadows. I felt a surge of anger rush through me. Before I could voice my concerns, Aziza stepped closer, closing the distance between us with an ease that left me momentarily speechless. She wrapped her arms around my neck, pulling me down to her level and the warmth of her body ignited something I could not quite understand, in me. She kissed me softly at first but eventually with an undeniable urgency that sent my heart racing. As much as I wanted to have her right there, I knew I could not pretend like what had happened, didn’t happen. “Why would you do that? Why did you do that?” I asked, trying to regain my composure and keep my voice low. “Because I am the Luna of this pack and your woman. I have to do what is best not just for our pack but also, for you. Do not forget the prophecy. I did nothing wrong. I did not convince her to do or say anything. She can speak for herself.” “I am willing to be a breeder for your heir. “Maude responded and I arched my brows before diverting my gaze to Aziza who had a wide smile etched to her face. My lips slowly thinned into a smile and when I could not hold it anymore, I let out a loud laughter, causing them both to stare at me in shock. “This.... has to be a joke, isn’t it?” I probed and they stared at each other, quite confused. “No, Malakai. You.....” “You are not worth breeding my heir. You are not worthy of such position.” I responded. “We are running out of time, Malakai. You need a breeder and this young lady here has offered to give herself. She is not even going to be in the child’s life. It is going to be ours. You should.....” “And did you tell her what will happen to her after she births the child?” I probed Aziza and she went mute. “Yes....” Maude spoke, drawing my attention to her before letting out a sigh. “I know I will lose my life in the process. I know I have to die for the child to live and I am willing to give my life for our..... for the child.” “And why would you want to do that? I mean..... you do not have a spare life and..” “All I need is revenge. I want you to help me get revenge on everyone who caused me death previously and that is all I am asking from you.” She explained. A smirk tugged at the corner of my lips. “Yes, you....” “Guards!” I barked and the words rolled out of my mouth with disdain “Get this derailed lady out of here and make sure she is bind with the strongest of chains.” I instructed. “Malakai, you should......” “You do not know who she is, Ziza. What is going on with you? How can you allow her manipulate you into believing she has nothing up her sleeves when she is obviously our enemy?!” I informed her but she still did not look convinced. “Stay out of this. I do not want you setting her free ever again. I have other important things to use my time and strength for. Getting involved and fighting a pack who has done me no wrong because a heartbroken lady who does not know her place, wants it, is not one of it.” She tried to speak but I placed a kiss on her lips, silencing her immediately. “My bed yearns for you tonight. Do not keep me waiting.” Before she could say another word, I walked away from her. I could not get my mind off Demetrius no matter how hard I tried. I knew he was smart and would definitely have begun to plan something. Nakoma? Could it be her? I knew only of one Nakoma, the great warrior and slayers of men. Could she be.......... No, it could not be and if it was, then the game was just getting started. I retired to my bed that night, wanting to forget all the struggles. The room had been well decorated with flowers and a smile escaped my lips. Aziza sure knew how to get me in the mood. “I know you are in the shower so hurry up!” I yelled before shutting the door. No sooner had I began to undress when I felt a sharp object on my neck. I did not need to be told before I knew it was a sword. I however remained calm. “You are right, she does not know who I am.” The familiar voice spoke. What the hell was this?
