I couldn’t sleep not even for a second. I was worried she could try to see an alternative somewhere else. Since I wasn’t forthcoming, she could try to get help from somewhere else and that was the last thing i wanted.

Perhaps, it could give me an edge over her father. It would indeed be a great sight to behold when Demetrius finds out he has a daughter. I just couldn’t wait to see the shock when he finds out, even more when he discovers my baby is growing inside of her and finally watch her life slip away the moment my child is brought forth.

He took my mother’s life; it was only best I take his daughter’s life too.

I hurried towards the door to find her when the door suddenly pushed open and my Beta fell on his knees.

“There is a problem, my Alpha. “He spoke and I clenched my fist. What was wrong this time? “The lady is no longer in the dungeon. We could not find her.” He spoke.

“We have to find her now!” I yelled and stepped out of the room. I could not lose her now when I had the chance. She belongs to me and would remain mine till her death.

No sooner had I stepped into the gardens when I found her body, right there on the floor. I had no idea what was going on but.... life seemed to have been drained out of her.

My Beta hurried towards her and shook her continuously but she didn’t get up.

“What is going on here? I heard the lady is missing and I was worried. I had to find you.” Aziza rushed towards us before placing a kiss on my chin and I smiled.

“She has been taken to the physician.” I responded and she let out a sigh.

“I am sorry I didn’t meet you in your room as you had requested. Something came up. We should go now...” She held my hands but I shook my head and yanked it out of her hands.

“I have to go to the physician. I have to stay by Maude.”

I could see her face transform – shock, surprise, annoyance, anger....... Her eyes widened and for a brief moment, we were surrounded by silence.

“I finally considered the thoughts of her being a breeder for my heir as you have requested. If this is to work, I need to know everything about her health status and know how healthy she is. The last thing I would want to do is let an ill lady carry my heir.” I informed her and her expression softened before she let out a smile.

“Alright, I will go with you and.....” I shrugged but I cut her short immediately.

“It is quite late. You should go to bed.”

“But....”

“I wouldn’t want any complaint when I knock on your door tomorrow morning when I need you so save your strength and go to bed.” I leaned in closer, seeing her breath hitched. I cupped her face, feling the warmth in my palm and without breaking our gaze, I pressed my lips against hers.

When I finally pulled away, I caught a glimpse of her reaction and a soft chuckle escaped her lips as she bit down on them. I took a step backward, allowing the moment to linger between us.

“I promise to see you by morning so.... get prepared for me.” I gave her a seductive stare before walking away and she nodded.

With this, I walked away from her and headed to the clinic. Thankfully, she was quite awake and I felt so relieved. For a moment, I had thought my whole plans was going to fail.

“What happened to her? What is going on with her?” I probed.

“There is a lack of food in her system hence it caused her to begin to hallucinate.” She spoke and I let out a sigh before ordering the maids to get Maude something to eat.

No sooner had the maids brought her food when she began to eat like she had been starved for years and one would wonder if she had ever eaten in her whole life.

“I have accepted your offer. I have accepted to do what you asked.” I spoke and she nodded with a smile etched to her face.

“Thank you. I promise to be fine as soon as possible.” Maude spoke and my lips widened into a smile.

“Your mother.....” I started and she looked up, almost choking on her meal. “Did you... When was the last time you saw her?” I probed and she let out a sigh.

“I..... I got to know that she passed away while birthing me. I ... I was brought up in an orphanage.” She responded and I nodded before crossing my hands behind me and leaning on the doorframe.

The soft glow of the evening light highlighted the delicate curve of her neck and her hair fell in gentle waves over her shoulders. Even as she continued to eat like a glutton, she still looked pretty.

“Tonight.” I started and she looked up at me. “We shall get down to business and do not keep me waiting.”

I watched her expression shift from curiosity to shock. Her expression sent a thrill through me and I loved to see it. I loved how her cheeks flushed with embarrassment and then, I turned to leave.

Taking a deep breath, I headed to my room

“My Lord!” I was brought to a halt when my Beta called out to me. I raised my brows and turned to look at him urgently to get to the point. I tried to keep my imbalance in check even as he ran towards me.

“I just got words about Maude. We got to hear that no one actually buried Maude’s mother. The chances are high that she is still alive.” He spoke and I glanced around, ensuring we were alone.

“Like I said, this news must not go out. It has to be between us alone. Maude must not get to know about it neither should Aziza know about it. If this goes out, you know what can happen to you.” I spoke and he nodded before I dismissed him.

Clicking the door shut, I leaned on it, sealing off the outside world and its relentless demands. I allowed myself to breathe deeply, my mind swirling with thoughts. I looked at the door hidden in the walls.

No one but me, knew about the door and it was a secret I meant to keep forever. With a deep breath, I pushed myself off the door and approached the concealed entrance at the far end of the room.

I turned the knob and the door opened. My ‘guest’ head was bent low, obviously lost in thoughts.

“Hi, Nakoma” I crossed my hands behind me and her head shot up, eyes wide with shock. She tried to scream but the handkerchiefs stuffed in her mouth muffled her cries. “I know we aren’t supposed to meet until two days as usual but... I have exciting news for you and I know you will be pleased to hear it.”

I spoke and she struggled to break free from the chains.

“It’s been what now? Weeks? Months or...... years?” I let out a soft chuckle. “You should know you cannot break free from that chain.” I halted and settled in the sofa right in front of her before crossing my hands and legs.

“Well, straight to the news, I just found.....a beautiful woman, one who is ready to be my breeder. She is willing to give her life for me.

You might wonder what you want to do with this piece of information but this is where it gets interesting, the woman is question is no other than ......Maude”

A deep sense of satisfaction washed through me as I stared at her. That was the same expression I had wanted to see. I loved the mixture of surprise and anger etched to her face. Her shock gave way to disbelief and then, simmering rage. Poor woman!

“Yes.... your daughter” I affirmed.
