CHAPTER SIX

ARIANA’S POV:

It was a little brighter than usual. I looked at the moon and saw it shinning a little brighter than it normally does. I was in wolf form as usual. I looked around to see what was going on. I could feel someone coming. As I turned back, I saw a white wolf the same height as I was with beautiful blue eyes like mine. The wolf barked at me and began to walk towards me. For some reason, I wasn’t scared. I felt this intense joy and happiness and my wolf said,

“Brother.”

“Hey girl” Avery greeted as she and Amina gave me a huge hug.

“Hey, babes” I answered. I hugged each of my friends and hugged Derik tighter.

“Why don’t we go to the club tonight,” Dave said as he held Amina.

Oh, I guess I forgot to mention. Dave and Amina are finally together so as Jack and Avery.

“That’s such a great idea,” Avery said.

“Yup, I agree,” Arthur said and the rest agreed.

“Will you come, Ariana?” Amina asked.

I sighed, “I wish I could but I can’t.”

“Why?” Avery asked.

I shut my locker and looked at them. “The wolf gang are coming to my house for dinner tonight”

“What?” Avery and Amina asked.

“f**k why?” Sam cursed.

“My mom said she wants to meet some of my friends and stuff,” I said feeling uncomfortable. I looked at them and saw that they knew I was hiding something.

I sighed and told them about the lunch we had yesterday.

“I don’t like your closeness with them,” Derik said.

Just as I was about to say something, I heard someone speak from behind me.

“And what is the problem with her being close to us?” The voice growled.

I turned and saw Benny griping his clenched fist tightly with Catherine holding his left hand trying to calm him down.

“Woah, let’s not go down this way,” I said feeling they will begin a fight. “Hi Catherine”

“Hi, babe” she smiled. I nodded at Benny knowing he doesn’t like me so I don’t try to talk to him.

“We just came to ask if the dinner offer is still up,” Catherine said.

“Sure, sure it is,” I said noticing how Benny was glaring at Derik.

“Ok girl. Talk to you at lunch”, she said and I realized she meant I’ll sit with them again today.

“But….”, I began

“Bye. Kisses”, Catherine said as she dragged the glaring Benny away.

I looked at Derik and saw that he was seriously upset. I went over to him and hugged him tightly. I felt him relax as he hugged me back.

“I’m just worried about you Ari,” He said.

“I know” I replied still hugging him.

“I love you, girl,” He said.

“I love you too, bestie,” I said staring at his warm brown eyes. I felt someone staring dagger at me as I said those words but I didn’t turn to know who it was.

It was lunch period. I went into the cafeteria with Derik holding my hand. I laughed at the joke he was telling me and just as we got our food and were about to get to our table, Ethan came up to me.

“Hey girl”, he said grabbing me into a hug, in the process separating Derik and me.

“Hi”, I responded as I hugged him back and laughed at his action.

“Here, let me hold that for you”, he said as he took my food from me.

“Oh no, I’m about to get to my table”, I said as I reached out for my food.

Ethan smirked then palmed his forehead, “seems like you forgot you are sitting with us today”.

I laughed, “I never agreed to sit with you guys so please give me my food. I’m starving”

Meanwhile, Derik was closely observing the situation and he looked angry.

“She said she doesn’t want to sit with you, so leave her”, Derik stated angrily.

“Oh Smith, stay out of this. Besides, we have a lot to discuss”, Ethan said as he winked at me.

“you guys don’t have to fight. Calm down, Derik, I’ll be fine”, I assured

“Are you sure?”, Derik asked still glaring at Ethan.

“Yeah”, I replied as I hugged and pecked him. He immediately relaxed and placed a kiss on my forehead.

I noticed Ethan looking upset and worried at that but I didn’t pay attention to the reason.

“Ok, drama queen, let’s go”, I winked.

“Hi Ariana”, they greeted me as I got to their table

“Hey”, I smiled back. I went ahead to sit when I noticed the empty seat was beside Demitrey.

“yay”, the voice in my head cheered

“oh shut up”, I replied

“stop acting like you don’t like it”, she said. Sometimes I feel like the voice in my head is so real.

“Are you okay?” Ethan asked

“Oh yes. Call me crazy but I’m having a mental argument with myself”, I said as I laughed and they all joined in but there was a hint of nervousness behind it.

We all began to eat and talk about different things. I found it hard to have a conversation with Demitrey so I mostly ignored him (I noticed he didn’t like it). I can’t just deny the physical attraction I have for him. I have begun to find it hard to control my feelings for him. He’s dangerous and I’m not ready to break my heart for a little crush I have developed. As we were talking, I saw Benny sending a few glances my way as he remained silent.

“Why do you keep staring at Benny with a frown?” Ethan asked snapping out of my thoughts.

I averted my face from Benny and faced Ethan, “nothing, just wondering why he doesn’t like me”

That seemed to snap Benny out of his thoughts because he stared at me with confusion and hurt in his eyes.

“why would you think like that?”, Catherine asked with her eyebrows raised

I laughed and said, “Don’t think in that aspect. I don’t like him”, I winked, “he is saved from my charms”

Catherine and the rest looked dazed.

“Before you ask how I knew what you were thinking, it’s clear from your face. Your thoughts are pretty loud”. I replied nonchalantly.

“Um, don’t say that. I do like you. I’m just not good with people”, Benny explained nervously.

I placed my burger down and smiled, “you don’t have to lie. I know you are good with people, you don’t just feel comfortable around me” After saying that, I frowned, “how do I know that?”

All of them suddenly became quiet and looked at me strangely. I rubbed the golden necklace around my neck to calm myself. I cleared my throat and began to eat again.

Ethan shared a look with everyone and smiled at me, “don’t stress yourself, Ari, it’s fine. Besides,” he said with a mischievous smile on his face, “who do you like?”

I blushed and looked away from him, “no one”

“Ohh, Ariana has a crush”, the guys sang, “who?”

“I used to like Dave Romano”, I replied as I blushed even harder.

Demitrey suddenly let out another growl and I looked at him to see he was fuming.

“Dave?”, Erik asked

“Yeah, but unfortunately for me, he has a girlfriend and she is pretty possessive. But she likes me so she’s cool with him having a little crush on him” I said as I laughed but no one joined.

“Besides, I might be having second thoughts about Dave seeing as a new guy has caught my eyes”, I said as I winked at Ethan

Everyone at the table stilled at that and stared at Demitrey who was giving Ethan, who has suddenly gone pale a death glare. Oh if only looks could kill. Ethan gulped and looked at me with fear and worry. “What?”

“what? You are pretty cute”, I said as I stared at him.

Ethan looked at Demitrey with fear in his eyes and he looked back at me. “No Ariana, you can’t like me.”

I frowned and looked at him, “did you just reject me?”, he shook his head fearfully

“Then why? Am I not pretty enough?’” I asked with hurt in my eyes.

“No Ariana. Don’t say that. You are beautiful. I just don’t feel the same. I’m sorry” Ethan said with fear, sadness and pain.

“what are you doing?” the voice in my head angrily asked

“what?” I replied.

“you can’t like Ethan. You are meant to like Demitrey!!!” she stated,

“and why is that?” I asked angrily

“you just have to,” she said with pain.

I shut her voice out then looked at Ethan, “I’m sorry. I shouldn’t have said that. It was wrong of me. Please forgive me and take it as a joke”

“Ariana…”, he started.

“It’s fine Ethan. I just hope we remain friends” I said as I threw the rest of my food away. In all honestly, I have begun to like Ethan, even though there is a part of me that says it’s wrong. And the feeling of being rejected by him actually hurts- a lot. I guess I have begun to use him to cover up my feelings for Demitrey not knowing I have fallen deep for both of them even though my feelings for Demitrey run deeper. I looked at everyone and saw that they all had fear in their eyes especially Ethan. While Demitrey looked like he was debating whether to murder Ethan or not. I took my stuff from the table and walked away.
