EMILY Alpha Grey’s question sent chills through my body, and I tried hard not to give into the fear. He looked at me like I was going to splurge out all my secrets, and it creeped me out. "Eh, why would you say such a thing?" I asked slowly. He leaned closer. "Because I’m not an i***t. I have told you where I picked you up, so now I want the truth from you, Emily. Tell me why you lied to me and where exactly you’re from," he snapped. I swallowed the lump in my throat. "Do you promise that you won’t kill me if I tell the truth?" "I promise that I’m not a sadistic Alpha who hurts people already in pain. I know what I saw, and if you were really so awful, I wouldn’t have brought you to my pack, but I do understand that you must have been in real big trouble, and I’m willing to hear it."
