Miss Holly and Elsa shook hands. Captain Hornby was introduced to Miss Holly. Miss Holly explained that Miss Sparling had been detained but hoped to join them before long.
“Now, girls,” said Miss Holly, beckoning her charges to draw nearer. “Miss Belton and Captain Hornby are going to take us over this pretty summer house. You remember what we read in the guide-book yesterday. It is in the rococo style and the bridge” (here most of the girls turned round and looked at it) “is specially worth attention” (on hearing which they all looked at Miss Holly again). “So are the interior decorations, but Captain Hornby says they are badly out of repair. Never mind, we shall all enjoy it just the same. Now, Miss Belton, we are ready to follow our guide.”
