Chapter Three The next morning, the sounds coming from downstairs told John that Tara was already up. The sun streaming in through the window made him smile. It was a change from when he was at home in Putney. There, it was not the sunshine that greeted him, but the sound of traffic. Slipping on a pair of trousers and a T-Shirt, John went downstairs. As Sam greeted him with a playful bark, John bent and ruffled his head. “Good morning, Sam.” Sam gave another yelp and ran into the kitchen. John followed to find Tara in shorts and a T-shirt, with a cup of coffee waiting for him on the worktop. She smiled. “Good morning, John, did you sleep, alright? I was about to bring this up, but as you’re here, you’ve saved me the trip.” John grinned. “Darn. If I’d known, I would’ve stayed in bed.”
