The Last Star

Our Mission isn't over. It's only starting.

That time was the most dreadful, scary and shocking scene of my life. It was like hell on earth. I was in like a movie scene, I returned back to reality, everything back to normal, I guess.

The two girls settled down with their hair messed up and their arms full of scratches. Tori leapt out of the window saying.

Bye! My gang needs me right now to fight some morons that were terrorizing our place.

Martin was checking out some photos he shot earlier. Kienel was picking up the hair pins scattered all around the room. I left the room 'cause the vibe was too chaotic.

I immediately saw someone running from the library, carrying a handful of books with a piece of paper taped on her back. It said ' fatty '.

It was Bethany Gilberts, she looked at me for a slight second then continued to run.

I walked through the corridors trying to find Bethany to comfort her.

I found her at the an abandoned room behind the school, it used to be the music room but it seems like they left it.

The walls weren't seen because the light was off, all I could see is Bethany standing in front of a white board with a flickering light in the middle of the room. That one light source made me scared. And so I, put my hand on the wall trying to find the light switch. I felt papers, pins and… string. I found the switch.

I flick the switch, the light turns on, there it was.

A picture, well, pictures of the Camsels scattered around the room. Along with them were random people, who seems like they were students, judging from their uniform.

Bethany noticed, she looked at me, it was like she was empty inside. She sits down at a chair, saying.

I've been expecting you, quite a nosy one aren't you? Well, you're unique. You're hard to read, Selene.

She continues to speak.

I've been investigating them, you see. I started when the first student they targeted came here, to Blithens High. Her name was Jasmine, she came in at the middle of the semester. The same thing that happened to her, will happen to you.

First, they to the Hades' Fountain, then they make you think they didn't exist, then they confuse you. That's probably what happened to you, right? It was hectic, their next agenda is to make you crazy. Jasmine had a violent episode where she screamed outside of school saying.

HELL BURNS!

Some even k*lled themselves while they were in the rehabilitation camp. Nobody cared and even dared to defy the Camsels' ruling, everyone just followed what they said.

By the way, where did you move from?

She said, I was worried I might blow my cover so I stuttered.

Uh, yeah, um, where I'm from, I'm from… California! Yes, I moved from California.

She laughs at me like she knew I was lying.

You're a bad liar, Selene. I know who you are, the soon-to-be queen of the moon, or should I say goddess. I'm Phoenix, I'm from Jupiter, they sent me here when I was to be crowned but then I got invested into the Camsels 'cause they were weird.

You see, when I was here, the same things that happened to you, happened to me, I was taught to shapeshift by a warlock when I was a child, so I shapeshifted into this girl, to be honest, this girl doesn't exist anywhere so it was easier to blend in.

Wait, give me a minute, let me change back.

She goes behind the board, when she comes back, a girl with beautiful skin and flawless features came back.

I noticed there were pockets on her skin which let out a blinding light.

She explains.

My stay here on Earth affected me so much that my skin is like this. Once the time comes that I stayed too much time, my body will burst into nothing and turn into ashes, that's when the event called

" The Phoenix's Awakening " happens and I unlock my power. It has been kept a secret to what power I will unlock but some say it is power so strong, if paired with time, will change every aspect of this world.

This means she's also not human? Obviously, 'cause she freaking transformed into a literal goddess which kind of shocked me.

I knew I could trust her when I saw that she also has a manual, the same one given to me by Trevor.

It was too much to take in all at once. I had to know more so, I asked her about her past.

She replied.

I have a brother, he's the warlock that taught me how to shapeshift, I have a little sister, she can create energy and use it for whatever purposes, if my sister can master it, she can be a great asset to both mankind and our species.

My mother has the voice of heaven, she's the one who used her voice to destroy enemies from the other galaxy. My father, well, he's different. He can copy any matter in the world, as long as he can see it.

He avoids looking at the moon, nor the sun, he fears that one day he would copy it and bring his planet aflame.

The last Phoenix was decades ago, the Phoenix's awakening happened before to the previous Phoenix, she wrote in her journal.

It felt like I was being crucified and was burning in hell, going through it was like being punished for all my sins. I wish nobody to go through it.

That was what she said, that scared me, but knowing what kind of species the Camsels are is also important. My mother always sang a song to me every night. The lyrics were like this.

There was once a girl, who gave everything, said to protect them. She gave it her all but that wasn't enough anymore. She screamed out of pain, 'cause there was no gain, she lived again to see another day.

That's all I remember, she's back home, she was beautiful and charming.

I comfort Phoenix, she had a dark past but I knew I had to do something for her.
